Jazz trade for John Collins

Just wanted to point out that the Conley trade facilitated the capspace necessary to make this deal happen, basically straight across. So, for Conley (35 years old), Vando, Beasley, NAW, and some 2nds, we got:

-a better 2023 pick
-a good Lakers pick
-John Collins (25 years old)

It's hard to turn five nickels into a three dimes but it looks like that just happened.

You forgot to include that second round pick that looks as funky as Collin's finger.

You can’t say that’s the only reason. He’s a viable player and this trade has no downside. Very well could have the same effect that the trade for Lauri did.
Your optimism is just going to set you up for disappointment imo. The writing is on the wall. He is cooked

And Collins has had limited use offensively ever since McMillan took over and Capela was traded in. Explain how Collins numbers dropping from his 3rd year differ in logic from Lauri's drop from his 2nd year? All I see is different names at HC in Jim Boylen and Nate McMillan. Collins also had the burden of sharing lob targets and PnR with Capela, who also clogged his rim running. Both Kohn and Lauri were misutilized by bad offensive coaches which caused their progress to stall.

Last year he did shoot much worse but in all fairness he was rehabbing a nasty injury. And it obviously didn't destroy his shooting ability as evidenced by his late season surge in 3P% and 2nd best career mark for FT%, so the early season dip in 3P% doesnt look definitive at all.
Say what you want about Collins reasons for sucking, but imo LM was not anywhere close to declining. His usage was never gifted in Cleveland like it was here, and they clearly never even knew his abilitym or never would have shipped him along with so many picks etc for one guy.

If Collins is the same undeserving overpaid clown he was in ATL for the past couple seasons, all this will be seen as is a mistake. Like when Danny drafted Bane and traded him to the Griz or thought Fab Melo was worth developing smh
Every gm makes mistakes, and he clearly just did

People also forget the Bogey for KO swap saved us enough salary to get under the luxury tax while still being able to take Westbrook’s contract.

This is nothing like that. But it's a good post to help the rest of us understand that you have no idea what you're talking about in regards to front office tactics and financials. Maybe you're simply focused on the 2023-2024 on-court product, which is fine, but please stop cosplaying as an Assistant GM.

I can understand liking or not liking the Collins trade as there is certainly a lot of data/factors that can be swung in either direction to make your opinion work, but for the life of me, I can’t understand the “why did we draft Hendricks if we were just gonna turn around and trade for Collins” crowd.

Hendricks is a rookie who’s gonna be able to eat up 20-25 minutes per game initially until he grows mentally and physically. That was true before the Collins trade and it’s still true after the fact. Those minutes are still there and if anything, Collins is a nice player to have Hendricks learn from.

Right on smh the old "you don't know anything post" GFYS

Sack cheese and peanuts? Please, puddin' pop.

If you're trying to come on to me in public, you're going to have to up your game. The sauce you're putting out right now is weaker than your posts on Jazz personnel. And that's saying something.

I mean we were giving minutes to Jaun Tuscano Anderson and Rudy Gay last year. We are going to fine.
