Tim MacMahon Omits Sexton in Lowe Post

Well that was interesting. Cy just spewing straight up lies.

THT was the guard they talked about the least by far (excluding Juzang and Brice who they didnt mention).

McMahon said he wouldnt be surprised if Dunn started at PG alongside Clarkson and they talked a lot about Dunns defensive upside. Lowe pushed for Ochai to start with Clarkson but Tim didnt really bite but instead jumped right to Sexton.

McMahon on Sexton:
"Just mentioning Collin Sexton. Like could he start? Possibly, I guess. I do know that they consider him long term to be that 6th man type of guy. I would expect them to want to keep him in that role... (goes on about Jazz maybe wanting him to be for them what Jason Terry, who is in our coaching staff, was for 2011 Mavs)"

Just to clarify, I dont think Cy lied intentionally.

I think he just missed the fact that Tim didnt address Lowes proposal about Clarkson starting but instead jumped to discuss Sexton in a way that was a fitting answer to the question about Clarkson. Probably missed few seconds of the pod and thus misunderstood what McMahon was talking about.

Cy ain’t ever living that one down. Lol

Nope. MacMahon didn't mention him until prompted. Listen again bud. I didn't lie, intentionally or unintentionally. There is clearly a section where Tim is talking about the ballhandlers and intentionally leaves off Sexton.

Sexton is a ball handler and he was mentioned. Whether prompted or not he was still mentioned and is still a ball handler. I agree that your hate is super duper strong doe.

Intentionally? Sure, you know his motifs and thoughts.

Also he wasnt prompted to address Sexton. He diverted from the subject of Clarkson being the starting PG to address Sexton and even named him a plausible starter.

In fact if I recall correct McMahon used the term starter (as lead guard) in conjunction with Sexton, Clarkson, Dunn and George (as future starter). So pretty much everyone, except THT and Ochai who he clarified of being more clearly a wing.

Also in the 15 total seconds he used for THT he didnt forget to mention him possibly being a tradable contract.

Look if a national writer doesn’t mention one player on the 30 teams they cover in the exact right part of the podcast it means something… just like when a guy removes all team stuff on his social media… what you think a poster is just making stuff up cuz there is a player who he doesn’t like? GTFOH… Tim knows they are trading him!!! You have to read the tea leaves!!!

Again, it's not hate. It's just prepping the forum for him not to be a starter. Tony Jones spent the whole off-season saying the Jazz view him as a 6th man and the national reporter just reiterated that. Sorry for keeping the people informed

Tim covers two teams in depth, the Jazz and Mavs. He's the most informed national writer on the Jazz. It means something

I get the impression the organization really loves Collin esp Danny Ainge and that he is the long term 6th man on this team in the Jason Terry/Lou Will/Anfernee Simons/Herro super 6th man role. Would Ainge trade him for a top 10 pick or as part of a star package? Hell yes this is Danny Ainge we are talking about here. The Jazz just put out his t shirt so I'd be a little surprised if they deal him ahead of camp but wouldn't be shocked if they make some sort of consolidation trade.

There is no way Clarkson is not one of the starters entering this season. He's earned his stripes here. He's a veteran. They frontloaded his contract so he's making $23 mil this coming season. They are likely not going to 'demote' him to start one of the kids who are 7-10 years younger than him. JC is a mellow dude but my guess is he would not take it well if they were to put him back in the 6th man role esp since there isn't a Don on this team anymore. His contract is made to trade so I imagine he could be suiting up for a playoff team by the trade deadline. By that time they can potentially insert an Ochai and/or Keyonte type into his starting role. We shall see..

This sounds much different than sexton was intentionally not mentioned at all. Goal posts gone at this point.

Yeah Cy’s Sexton trashing is tiresome. Never stops.

Like it or not, we have a Darius Garland/Cleveland situation on our hands.

Sexton wants badly to prove himself as a starter, but the team thinks they have a much more talented and PG capable rookie on the roster and they cant possibly play together if we have any real aspirations of playoff success.

Utah knows that will create tension to the point where they dont even want to give Sexton the opportunity to be a starter because they'd rather keep him in the preferred role.

I have no problem keeping Sexton if he's a 6th man. I think he can potentially be 6th Man of the Year, but I dont see the point of keeping him if we are getting Herro and keeping JC.

I've been praising them for the last 9 months. I just don't think he's a starter (which Utah agrees with, like it or not).
Well, you’ve been drumming the “Get Sexton out of here” tune (not just saying he shouldn’t be a starter) over and over ever since Collin put on the Jazz jersey the first time. If you think Sexton is a 6th man, why be so negative towards him? Sexton in a 6th man role could be very effective.

I think you're being delusional and remembering what you want to
