Herro Rumors

They’ve been that… after Lebron they have landed Jimmy who was a free agent and Lowry who was a free agent. KD multiple times, Gordon, have been some recent misses. They may not have the ammo for a star bigger than Dame and waiting a year or two likely means Jimmy is on the heavy decline. They should have some urgency here.
I get you want to argue with me about anything, but cmon.

I literally saw spoiled Heat fans talking about it yesterday. Just cuz a team is at the top of the list it doesn’t mean the guy ends up there and NBA seems to be a little agitated with this stuff… doesn’t mean it will stop but teams will outbid them for Giannis, Embiid, Doncic unless they can put together some assets next couple years. Dame gave one team and is in their price range… old enough that other teams are leery of the deal. Miss here and I think it may close the book on Jimmy Heat title chances.

I 100% agree with this but I think the important thing is Pat Riley doesnt. If Toronto makes a better offer and Cronin takes that to Riley he is gonna say "let them have him".

I think its a mistake for the reasons you outlined.

Windy touched this subject yesterday and said Miami going all-in isnt likely happening, and they arent gonna lose their sleep if it falls through.

I think Pat will bring a better offer (if he’s even given one) but they likely are trying to hold onto Martin (going to a third team for stuff) and avoid going to OKC and changing pick protections so they can offer another pick. They also might be trying to avoid taking Nurk (sounds like Phoenix will help)… I just think if he’s saying Herro and trying to keep a pick or withholding Jaquez or Jovic that it’s jumping over dollars to keep dimes.

I’d say 75% chance they work it out but it’s gonna get dicey if another team puts up stuff they have been withholding

I just dont think Miami should be thinking, or are thinking, "we have to maximize the Jimmy window". They are Miami. They will get more and better stars. I know some people hate it, but it's reality.

I wonder how teams seem to over value certain players.

Rumor was Terrance Mann was what made the Harden to the Clippers fall through. Harden, George and kawhi is a killer threesome if they stay healthy. Puts the clips in title contention but they don't want to include mann.

Portland not wanting Herro I understand but that but that train as proposed seems great for every team involved. Henderson, Simons, Sharpe, Ayton is a very good start to a rebuild. Throw in Jovic, Jaquez, thybull, Murray, and Rupert and it looks amazing.

Good hell Portland make the deal.

Yeah, tell that to the post-Kobe and pre-LeBron Lakers.

You mean the post Kobe Lakers where they got Lebron? They will always get someone. It might take a period of time, but it will happen. This isnt a low to mid tier team that has to grasp for straws at their once in thirty yeary window.

Of course there will be a period were the Heat aren't great and may struggle for a few years, but that's all the more reason to not spend a ton of future assets for a guy they don't have to have. It's a near guarantee they will attract another star at some point in the not to distant future.

And y'all can argue with me all you want, but that's the position they are taking and it will probably work unless someone goes crazy like Cleveland did. And if it doesn't work it's not really a big deal in the grand scheme of the Heats future.

If the Heat ain't trying to maximize Jimmy's window then I'd def consider moving him before shelling out $52M to a 36 yo in a couple years. Retool around Bam/Herro/the assets they get from the Jimmy trade/all the FAs they can sign.

Miami has no reason to rush into anything. They will always have a position of power and can afford to be patient.

But if the offer is Herro+1-2 picks+1-2 of Jovic/JJJ then a team does not have to get crazy. Portland is under no obligation to go back to Miami and ask them to beat the offer. What does holding onto the extra pick do for the Heat? Maybe Portland wants them to do more than that which requires some maneuvering. I don't think they will have an opportunity that is better than this as far as winning a title for the next 3-4 years.

Didn't say rush it... said they should consider it. If you are "always" in a position of power... there are still things you can do to increase that power. Clearing 50M+ from the books and getting some younger players may be what helps them lure the next BIG fish.

Portland has much more to lose from not dealing Dame than Miami has to gain from acquiring Dame imo.
2 picks, 2 swaps, 2 prospects... and whatever Herro gets em (Ayton?) is about the most Heat can offer. If they pass on putting that on the table I think Porty can get 90% of that offer from Toronto or Philly. I think Miami has a 2 year window with Dame/Jimmy if they can swing a deal... if not I think this year becomes a meh year and they pray that Giannis asks out and Milwaukee settles for their best offer.

Pat Riley is 78 years old… that’s all… that’s the post

Latest news is we are willing to trade players and a pick for Herro. That’s what we should be looking at. THT + KO + first would be perfect to me. Looking at our salary cap we have to include two of THT/KO/Sexton to make any deal work.
