Phoenix based reporter John Gambadoro was apparently the first to leak that Suns are preparing to make a trade (key pieces being Ayton for Nurkic) and apparently thats part of a rerouting trade that also brings another player to Phoenix.

He didnt give out the details though, and I dont know where Jake Weinbach got those details from.

I think Jake was just taking the tea leaves and making them make sense.

Gambo is clued in... so if he says something its from his sources. He's also not a basketball guy/analyst type and was going on about Nurkic being a defensive center yada yada... so he is repeating what his people have told him.

Droppingdimes20 also had some of this...

The Sexton smoke has been pretty consistent this offseason...

The big boys like Woj and Windy seemed to be sending out the "the move is gaining steam" tweets.

I'm not sure this is what the deal looks like at the end of the day but it does make some sense... I think it is fairly favorable to us. It is tough to peg the value of guys like Sexton and Herro so I could see it being true or way off.
 
If the Jazz are involved in a 4 way trade involving Ayton/Herro/Lillard theres like three possible player combinations leaving Utah. Either it's THT/KO, THT/Sexton, or Sexton/KO.

The monkey wrench would be it being John Collins or the Jazz getting Dame.
 
Anyone have a clue what the cost would be anyways? I'm open to any player at the right price. Herro is a good player, and I think he can take the next step by leveling up his passing and taking a higher volume of 3's.....but while I think he will get better, chances are it's still a modest improvement and I'm not sure he's ever an all star.

I was just thinking that with all the smoke around the Suns being involved, would they want JC? I think JC can be traded right away since it was an extension. The Suns don't need JC, but it would not be surprising if they wanted him anyways. Something like Nurk+JC to PHX and Ayton to POR? We get Herro and send another pick to POR. Just rambling off ideas from the top of my head, haven't thought too much about it....but I would trade JC and a bad first for Herro.

JC can't be moved until January (6 months after extension).

As reported its Sexton, THT for Herro basically... that's a win. Especially cuz Cy was out here saying we should throw at least two picks on top of all that.
 
There's no way there isn't a pick involved for the Jazz. Like I said, I think the Jake guy was just laying out a basic framework.

Ah, got it. For some reason I remember Thad Young being immediately tradeable due to him being an extension but maybe I had that wrong or it doesn't apply here.

If it's Sexton + THT for Herro I think you definitely do it. I would think about throwing in a late first round pick as well, but depending on how high/low you are on those two I can see how that would be a no.
