Israel-Hamas War

For those lacking nuance or understanding the complexity of the Israeli gov v Hamas v civilians, Let AOC call it like it is:

“The bigotry and callousness expressed in Times Square on Sunday were unacceptable and harmful in this devastating moment," the congresswoman continued. "It also did not speak for the thousands of New Yorkers who are capable of rejecting both Hamas’ horrifying attacks against innocent civilians as well as the grave injustices and violence Palestinians face under occupation.”

What a master class on disinformation this conflict has been. Like the horrific news reports of Hamas "beheading babies". No evidence whatsoever. No pictures of those babies when they're alive. No names. No interviews with families to confirm that this happened to their kids. Just the testimony of an anonymous solider and a seething settler. And yet, it's been reported over and over, and the Hasbara has been mentioning it in every forum/comment section online. The IDF refused to investigate the claim or release an official statement on the truth of the allegations, but that doesn't matter. The point is that the blood libel is repeated enough, that it enters people's consciousness.

Media manufactured consent at its finest.

What we do have, however, are hundreds of pictures of dead Palestinian babies. With Westerners on Twitter celebrating their deaths. Which is understandable, given Israel's 100 year campaign to dehumanize the Palestinians.

It's crazy how much Israel goes out of there way to cancel anyone slightly critical of what they have done. Any critique of the Israelis government is basically illegal in America and you are seen as being a Nazi and supporting Hamas. It's really insane disgusting ****

Arabs are not helpless morons contrary to your borderline racist attempts to cast them in that mold.
In the past 20 years or so, conservatives developed the habit of accusing others of their own sins/plans/goals/etc.

Fixing things and building new things is within their capability. The PA government in the West Bank knows what they are talking about when they say the Gaza power station is in the state it is because of Hamas.
Fixing and building require resources and trained personnel. Something like half the Gazan population are children, and most of the strip is impoverished.

However, if you want to continue putting forth your vision of Gaza as some sort of wasteful Qatar, I won't bother with it anymore.

Disinformation? There are a disturbing number of videos. They just are being censored off American social media platforms, and thankfully so.

The event with the most video was from the music festival where Hamas captured it all on video. As the Atlantic put it:

One video shows a woman who appears to have been beaten, and who seems to be bleeding into her shorts, being forced out of a Jeep in Gaza. The other video shows a woman, later identified by her family as 22-year-old Shani Louk, stripped down to her underwear and lying face down in a truck, her legs twisted at unnatural angles. Hamas gunmen sit on her body, and bystanders spit on it.

So far the number of confirmed dead at the festival is 260. The Hamas militants came in using paragliders. It is the only incident I know of where Hamas used paragliders. The rape, kidnapping, and killing isn't misinformation. It is all on video, and BLM Chicago used that imagery to tweet out their support of it.

It gave me hope when White House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre stood at her podium yesterday and said: "our condemnation belongs squarely with terrorists who have brutally murdered, raped, kidnapped hundreds — hundreds of Israelis. There can be no equivocation about that. There are not two sides here. There are not two sides."

You aren't alone in your hatred of Jews but at least for today I can take comfort that you aren't the majority. Even BLM Chicago later removed their tweet after all the pushback they got.

What is crazy about that? What are we China? Yes I love free speech and hate cancel culture. Thanks. Hate free speech and pro cancel culture? Maybe try Palestine.

Gaza isn't a wasteful Qatar. Gaza is a democracy. Qatar is a kingdom, or more correctly a constitutional emirate. Qatar is not a democracy and Hamas doesn't run it. They are very different with Qatar being a nice place to live which is probably why the leader of Hamas chooses to live in Qatar instead of in Gaza where he holds office to rule.

First time I can actually say I respect Biden. Glad he's taking his stance despite many on his side making excuses for the terrorist. Many are trying to make it seem less than it is by propaganda like it's "Media manufactured" but that's going to fly this round. I'm baffled why people would try to downplay this but, that's on them and I won't judge.

The number of U.S. citizens confirmed to have been killed in the Israel-Hamas war has risen to 22, the State Department said Wednesday.

That is an increase from the 14 who had been confirmed dead one day earlier.

U.S. citizens also are among the estimated 150 hostages captured by Hamas during its shocking weekend assault on Israel, President Joe Biden confirmed Tuesday. The war has already claimed at least 2,200 lives on both sides

Biden, who is set to meet with Jewish leaders later Wednesday, sought to connect the attacks by Hamas militants directly to decades of antisemitism and violence endured by Jews around the world.

"This attack has brought to the surface the painful memories and scars left by a millennium of antisemitism and genocide against the Jewish people," President Joe Biden told reporters Wednesday. "We have to be crystal clear: There is no justification for terrorism

"No excuse. And the type of terrorism exhibited here is just beyond the pale, beyond the pale.

"As I said yesterday, my commitment to Israel's security and the safety of the Jewish people is unshakeable.

"The United States has Israel's back and we're going to be working on this through the day and beyond.

A dead baby is a dead baby, through an act of violence, denial of clean water and proper medical care, the dead are dead and know no better. Are you calling me anti-Semitic because i don't support the brutality of the Israeli state? You'd be surprised to know that there is a significant Jewish population in my city, most come from families of survivors, do you think all Jews support the actions of Israel? A lot of my Jewish friends don't.
Same here. All of my close high school friends were Jewish, and my family lived in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. My friends’ families were survivors from Eastern Europe.

The mother of the woman who was driven through town and spit on and hit by bystanders was on one of the cable stations last night. She said she had good sources telling her her daughter was still alive. The woman seen being taken away on a bike, crying out to her boyfriend, was seen alive in a video from Gaza.

I’m hearing that US and Israeli intel differ in their opinion of Iran’s role. I think the difference surely lies here?

“CNN — The United States has collected specific intelligence that suggests senior Iranian government officials were caught by surprise by Saturday’s bloody attack on Israel by Hamas, according to multiple sources familiar with the intelligence.

The existence of the intelligence has cast doubt on the idea that Iran was directly involved in the planning, resourcing or approving of the operation, sources said.

The sources stressed that the US intelligence community is not ready to reach a full conclusion about whether Tehran was directly involved in the run-up to the attack. They continue to look for evidence of Iranian involvement, which caught both Israel and the United States by surprise”.

Off the top, if Hamas thought Israeli intel on Iran was too good to risk clueing Iran in on this specific operation, maybe they did keep their sponsors and suppliers in Iran in the dark.

The difference is that Mossad is telling the truth, as was Hamas when they also said Iran was involved, while America is saying a lie that best serves America’s interests. I applaud the Biden Administration for it. This is some of the best crisis management the Biden Administration has done since getting to the White House.

The Biden Administration has told Lebanon, Syria, and Iran in no uncertain terms that if any of them attempt to stir the pot right now that we will kill them. We have put the Gerald R Ford carrier strike group right off the coast of Syria and are bringing the Dwight D Eisenhower carrier strike group into the region to make good on those threats.

The claims of not being able to find evidence that Iran was directly involved was to allow Iran space to back down without losing face. It is a lie but it is a lie in service of de-escalation. Any statements from Iranian officials denying foreknowledge of the Hamas attack is a signal that Iran is accepting America’s invitation for cooler heads to prevail.

When the Israeli government is criticized for things other governments are not criticized for...well yeah, that's probably because of anti-Semitism.

I'm having a hard time imagining a country that would not react this way if a terrorist organization went into it and killed 1000+ of its citizens. And I'm having a hard time imagining they wouldn't receive universal support around the globe. Unless, of course, that country is Israel.

Would that be the same intelligence that declared Hunter Biden’s laptop to be Russian disinformation??

Hamas spokesmen continue to declare with a straight face that no civilians were targeted.

Atrocious lies everywhere both sides As per usual. Never going to end

If the residents of the tribal homelands had attacked the rest of South Africa this way, the support for South Africa would not have been universal.

Unless Gaza/Palestine became an actual nation and I missed it, Hamas was already in Israel. They broke through barriers to another part of Israel.
