Potential Trade Targets

Deni spent the first 3 years of his NBA career shooting 30% from 3.

Now that he is on an absolute tanker he's shooting a blistering 37% on 3 attempts per game.

Color me skeptical that he can shoot

You could put protections on the pick to make the value work.

I don't watch him a lot, but just based off of stats I would say he looks like he is worth a lottery protected first.
Hats his value to this team? Id rather just develop Hendricks and Simone and look for a better scoring big wing option to compliment that pair.

I'm not trading a first for a guy who isnt even better than Simone.

I don't see mounds of potential there. I think he's currently punching above his weight class stats wise because he's on a bad team, not despite being on a bad team.

Solid bench player imo. Not worth a first.

Come on now. Simone feasts off of amazing looks on offense. Deni is a better rebounder and passer than him. I think a better defender too although that could be debatable. Plus you know he’s WAY younger.

I think it might take a real like top 4 protected type pick. They also have other spare parts that could be interesting in Kispert, Gafford, Jones, Wright. I wonder if you could finesse a bigger deal that nets another part (obviously finding a way to provide some additional value).

We also have multiple picks in the 2025 and 2027 years that you could say "we will send pick x with top 4 protections and if the pick falls in those protections we will give you the other pick" type of thing. It would limit the ability to trade the picks for a star but I am dubious that will happen anyway. If we were also looking for a John Collins dumping grounds you could work that into a Wizards deal.

He looks like he would be a decent upgrade to Simone. He averages 5.2ast/36 minutes vs Simone's 1.7.

I don't know though, I'm not a Deni expert. From what I know and have seen I would be excited if we traded for him.

Deni is a better passer is the only thing I will give him over Simone. I watched Simone absolutely body Deni on a rebounding opportunity Deni should have had. Maybe he has an edge overall, but it's slight and contextual if anything

That's interesting. To me, he is the guy that when I watch him play always seems overrated vs how people talk about him on here.
Kispert is another interesting guy... less interesting than Deni imo. He isn't just a shooter as he moves really well off ball too. I think he's another guy on a real team or a good team that would be viewed as more useful.

I think you could do some yankee swap nonsense with guys like KO/Dunn/JC and get some ammo to pair with one of our picks and get both guys.

I think it's just when I watch him he always looks like he's trying really hard. Don't get me wrong, I like guys that try hard, but it gets exciting when stuff seems really natural/effortless.

Wiz should not trade Deni for one pick. We absolutely should trade one pick for him. His contract is phenomenal even if he doesn't take monster steps forward. If you got two years down the road and wanted to upgrade you could recycle him for what you bought him for (if its one pick).

Just an FYI - his contract is 4/55M after this year and it descends in value. Last two years of the deal he makes 13M and 12M. The cap goes up 50% by then and our cap situation would be more complicated by then with extensions.

I’ve watched wayyyyy to much Wizards this year. Here are my thoughts on their players:

Kuzma - Not good despite the numbers. Deserves as much hate as Poole. Completely takes over the offense every time he touches it. If he doesn’t end up shooting, he will take 5 seconds to think about shooting before handing a time bomb off to a teammate. Plays “hard”, but in a summer league way. Not sure if he can tone it down and be an actual player on a real team.

Deni - Very good defender, smart offensive player. Skilled….but not a confident shooter. Think he would mix well with good players. I would not trade this guy if I was WAS.

Tyus - Extremely smooth player. Has improved his shooting and always seems to make the right. Does not have the defensive tenacity he had in MEM. Looks like a fish out of water given how everyone else wants to play. He’s a classic, get the troops together type of PG.

Kispert - Moves around a ton, and can move the ball around a little bit. And he’s….alright. Probably a worse shooter and better cutter than he’s given credit for. Release makes it a little awkward for him to shoot on the move. Terrible, terrible defender. Plays fake hustle defense at best.

The common theme when I watch the Wizards is that they got a lot of guys who play “hard” but completely reckless on both ends. Think of Sexton, THT, Clarkson etc when they are NOT cooking. That is their identity of their team, and anyone who tries to play within some kind of structure looks completely out of place.
