Favors or Kanter?

If you had to keep one, which one would it be?

I'm picking Kanter. His rebounding alone might have swayed me, but his strength and "immovability", free throw shooting, his more advanced post moves also put him ahead for me. And I think his basketball IQ might be higher, although he definitely needs to calm down and get used to playing at NBA speed.

Favors is a better jumper and "more athletic"; however, that's only one factor to consider when judging a player. The above factors outweigh it, in my opinion.

I'm glad we don't have to choose, but if one day it comes down to trading one or the other, it ain't cut and dried for Favors, that's for sure.

They're such completely different players that they're nearly incomparable. Having said that, I would take Favors if I had to choose.

On a side note I believe Kanter should be the PF and Favors the C.

Kanter will struggle against tall players.

I will go with a dissenting voice and go with kanter. I like them both.

@Beantown I think Kanters strength would shine even more against slightly smaller opponents so him at PF would be a good idea.

... and, as I've said before, Kanter's offensive moves are displayed better when he gets the ball more than a couple feet from the rim. He has the footwork to get by his guy. Of course he's still rusty, not being asked to this right now, so it may be a while before we get to see much of it on display .. but it is there.

I would go with Kanter only because he rebounds and beats the hell out of the other teams big guys. I was watching him bang reggie evans during the clips game. He doesn't back down. As of right now Favors is just a thicker Jeremy Evans.

I'm still laughing at the move he did last game where he got the ball off a screen to a wide open lane and decided to pull up for an awkward 10 footer.

I have to go with Favors just because of his potential for defensive dominance and ability to finish under the rim. I wish he had Kanter's FT shooting ability, but that is the only thing I see Kanter having a huge advantage over Favors at this point.

Kanter has much better hands and footwork right now as well. As you've pointed out many times, he needs to use the glass more (at all) and be less hesitant once he's created space, but at least he has the ability to create space, and thus good shots, unlike Favors.

Favors really needs to find something to go to on the block. It's painful watching him with the ball in his hands.

That is such a hard choice right now because you still don't know which one will be the better player. If at all possible, do whatever you have to do to keep them both. They will be quite the dynamic duo in a couple of years!

Favors easily. Why you guys think .680FT shooting is such a big advantage? I have yet to see Kanter make jumper in NBA while Favors made more then a few.

.

Or how about sky hook he bricked vs Okur? Or turnaround jumper some no name scrub from Clippers blocked before Kanter even released the ball. Kid needs to improve speed of his release or he will get blocked 90% of the time.

Ok, you two, get a room.

If you focus only on one player's strengths and only on another player's weaknesses, you end up reaching conclusions like AKMVP has. ****ing retarded.

Kanter's starting to release the ball faster after creating space for himself. Even with his early struggles, he's getting to the line frequently enough to have a TS% of .525, good for third on the team among regulars (after Millsap and Favors). He rebounds the ball well, and doesn't get backed down by anyone. It was really fun watching Favors and Kanter defend Pau and Bynum.

Remember Kanter hadn't played real basketball in over a year. What he is doing considering that is very impressive.

Favors needs to learn he is not superman and he cant dunk over 5 people. I understand he is young and enthusiastic to play, but sometimes he needs to pass, it is painful to watch him having no pass vision

Retarded to point to obvious flaws in ones game?

I don't entirely agree. Yes, he needs to look to pass more frequently. He seemed to have decent vision last season, so maybe he's just frustrated with his role/offensive production. He needs to let the game come to him, and pick his spots better. It's tough for a young player who doesn't get regular touches to stay disciplined.

However, I'd rather see him try to dunk over guys than shoot fade-aways. He's long, strong and fairly explosive, and he should be using his superior tools to his advantage.
