The odds favor us ending up with the 5th pick. It seems, even looking more at past drafts, that the teams in the 4th-8th spots have better chances of ending up in #1 or #2. One of them, as a group, has a better chance at it than we do, frankly. So it seems they have managed to break the lottery down so that tanking does not guarantee anything.

Well 4-8 covers 5 teams. Collectively they got 45.5% chance for #1, which is more than 3x the chance we have at landing there.

But you cant finish the season covering all the positions from 4 to 8, can you? Fact is we are in THE BEST position to draft high. Period. Doesnt mean its likely we will draft in the top 2 (its more like 1/4 years when that happens).
