Game Thread NBA Draft Lottery - May 12, 2025

Added to Calendar: 05-12-25

I don't believe the lottery is rigged and apparently neither does Andy Larsen, however he did post this:

Of the Jazz's 140 lottery combinations, none of them had a 1? And then they don't draw a 1 in 16 draws?

Rough night. NBA is gonna have a hard time beating the allegations lol. League needs some lotto reform. SA jumping in 3 consecutive lotteries and Houston doing it in 4 (until tonight) is just lame ****. Its almost easier to handle Dallas at #1 IF SA doesn't jump up AGAIN. The "luck" needs to be spread around.

I alluded to this previously when I expressed doubt about getting the pick after being officially sanctioned by the league. I had mentioned that if all the teams that got official “sanctions” ended up moving back, that it would send a message and stop tanking. I don’t know if anyone else got sanctions but the narrative definitely will move in about it also being a message.
Philly got tagged earlier in the year.

Maybe the flattened odds are angering enough fan bases that there is enough of a voice to ask for change.

I don't mind the flattened odds. Its just wild that SA continues to hit on long odds each year. No reason that they shouldn't have their luck impacted by having luck in other years. Hornets hit #2 a couple years ago. If they want flat odds they can at least spread some luck around.

She said she’s gonna tell him how I feel. I’m also gonna tell her to tell him to bring her onto the NBA…so she can get the gig next year and land us AJ! Choo choo!!!!!
Ah, yes. Here's the great part with that. Now the league can't take heat and needs to prove it's not rigged... by making sure the BYU guy doesn't go to the Jazz.

A big part of my frustration is that this outcome isn’t foreign. Even without belief in shadiness, the odds would still be stacked significantly against us. But we chose this path intentionally. It’s easier in those moments to pretend a situation we’re in is unlikely to happen, but it’s actually favored. Then if you’re more conspiratorial minded, you’d be much more averse and wanting to entirely avoid all these landmines and not cash in the 401k to try to time the market.

We’re gonna have to come up with some quick cash to pay the taxes and penalty on the withdrawal.

LeBron on a podcast earlier this year .. "Listen, man, during the ball drop in the lottery, Cleveland got the number one pick?" James said. "What a coincidence. Let's keep LeBron home. Patrick Ewing to the Knicks. Derrick Rose to the Bulls. I understand the assignment, guys."

then he tweets laughter emoji today

I don't think it was rigged at all. I do think the Jazz are cursed when it comes to the lottery, given they've never moved up ever, and this feels like the right result given that tanking isn't historically in this team's DNA.

Oh well, hopefully the 5th pick is good.

It's pathetic how the media is already saying the Jazz will have the number 1 pick next year because the AJ guy will be playing for BYU next season. FU POS league and media!! I'm sick of this. I will go to the vegas summer league one last time and give the NBA the effing bird and quit caring for the NBA. Everything is SUS, and I've had it.
