Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Real sleeper right now.

If people are going to give Fears the benefit of the doubt for being 18 y.o., they need to do the same for Essengue. What happens if his body fills out and he grows to a bonafide 6'10"? What happens if he improves his handle? He really could enter AK territory in some respects.

That last pass was Joker esque. His teammate let him down. Not getting as many touches as he should've.

Lots of good things there. Some thoughts just based on what I saw. . .

A.) He’s a straight 5 like Kessler. But he has a lot of upside at that spot.

B.) Wish he would’ve set better screens. Don’t think I saw him set a clean one in any of the highlights.

C.) Good box out and solid hands. Really like his passing and his up close to the basket game. Seemed very sure with the ball.

The question for him will be on defense and whether quicker players can target him. He likely needs to play in drop coverage.

It’s funny because I agree with a lot of this.

Watching DM again tonight honestly made me think of Tre. I think he can totally be an All-Star and put up huge numbers, but I see them coming very much in the same way as DM with the same flaws and not leading to ultimate high level winning basketball.

So maybe my expectations are unrealistic, but I hate the DM archetype, and I see a lot of that in Tre.
Except I would project that Tre can make 3s consistently and DM bricks them consistently when it counts.

I don’t think he’s going to be in play at 21 is the problem.

Essengue has one of the weirdest builds I’ve seen. Freakishly long arms but extremely narrow shoulders that explain how his reach can be so long without a long wingspan.

I like so many dudes in this class.

Me too. I definitely want at least two guys from this draft - plus a couple of draft and stash guys in the 2nd round.

Ideally, I’d like to see the Jazz take their top rated guy out of Bailey, Johnson and Edgecombe at 5, then move up from 21 for a physical freak like Carter Bryant, Noa Essengue or Rasheer Fleming. Wouldn’t mind getting Demin either.

Sure but with a player as young as Yang we can't rule anything out. He's definitely got the skillset to play the 4 compared to someone like Maluach. Maybe he work on his body and outside shot to acquire that positional flexibility. The point is for us as jazzfans who want Yang to work out on the Jazz, he kinda has to be able to play the 4 since we know Kessler is not going anywhere. And a "backup center" isn't exactly the term that would get any jazzfans excited.

I would lean more into the centerness and hub qualities of Yang. There is no need to be overly attached to players currently on the roster. If Yang can be the offensive hub for the Jazz, why burden him with learning a completely new position just to fit Walker, he is already going to be in the middle of learning English when he gets drafted. Just trade Walker for pieces that do fit around Yang.

I don't know if Yang has the potential to overtake Walker as our starting Center but I would want to roll the ball out and see how the team looks with either at Center, then decide. Or just trade Walker if you feel hurried by the looming extension. Or Yang can just be the backup Center. I don't think converting Yang to a 4 is the right way to go about this.

We simply need to find a way to get Essengue.

I’m completely sold on him.

We do have this pick at #5, I'm just sayin.....
