Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

The FBI was in fact involved in January 6th. Just not in the way maga thinks they were. maga thinks the FBI was there at the Capitol encouraging rioters to cause destruction and helped orchestrate the riots etc.
The way the FBI was actually involved is that prior to January 6th the FBI had concerns and were talking to hardcore maga folks and trying to gather intelligence about any kind of possible disruption or violence that might be carried out. Just like they should have been doing. That was their involvement. Nothing scary or nefarious.

maga will be like "then why didn't they stop it all from happening?".... Well they can only go off the intelligence they were receiving. So if the maga folks they were talking to weren't providing them with info alluding to violence or criminal activity being planned then why should they try to stop peaceful protesting.
Good post. But also, even if the FBI was egging Trumpers on on Jan 6, would that be bad? Trump pardoned a bunch of those guys. Why should “camp Auschwitz” get a pardon for trashing our capitol and not an fbi agent? The day was a glorious day, right? If only Mike pence had had the courage to do what was right. Or something. Right?

If trashing the capitol and attacking police was wrong, why did Trump pardon hundreds of those criminals?

MAGA always tries to have things both ways. Jan 6 was bad and the deep state did it but also it was great and glorious and patriotic! Joe Biden was a senile doofus but also a communist genius! Trump is a great leader but he also has no idea what’s going on and can never ever ever be held accountable for all the crappy people he hires (then fires).

Report Confirms Anyone Who Really Likes A Politician Is Insane

MEDFORD, MA—Calling such behavior a guaranteed indicator of severe underlying derangement, a report published Tuesday by researchers at Tufts University confirmed that any person who really, truly likes a politician is ******* insane. “Our findings established a conclusive link between experiencing genuine fondness for a political figure and being a ****ing lunatic,” said the report’s lead author Dr. Rachel Strathmore, who urged anyone who had ever felt inspired by a politician, or worse, owned an article of clothing with a politician’s face on it, to immediately seek professional mental help. “It doesn’t matter if they’re at the local, state, or federal level—our data show that if you sense any kind of interpersonal connection with an elected leader or candidate, even just a little, you’re a delusional maniac and your brain is fundamentally broken. A healthy, rational human mind understands politicians as a means to achieve a political goal and nothing more, but when someone inappropriately perceives real affection for them, that’s pure psychosis.

Fascists don't care about hypocrisy or double standards. They care about gaining as much power and possible.

True. But how many in America know that this is a fascist movement? In fact, how many see this as a normal Reagan like GOP? Or see this as merely a backlash against “woke socialists” so everything is actually justified?

The issue, as always, is the electorate. We have a dumb as hell electorate, softened and bored by prosperity. We have a disgusting media ecosystem focused on this false sense of “neutrality.” And as long as they can get clicks by propping up the crazed fascists on the right and always punching down on the left, that’s good. And we have a political system that awards extremists in party primaries.

Much of this wouldn’t matter however, if the electorate could take 3 seconds to think about who they’re voting for. Instead, many in this country have memory of goldfish. Most have already memory holed how Russia interfered in 2016, how awful Trump handled Covid and who instigated Jan 6, and how awful the situation was in 2021. Of course, this doesn’t surprise me, I’m old enough to remember the hell hole obama inherited in 2009; a terrible economy and a health care system that could just refuse to pay for your stuff cuz preconditions. His reward for fixing that was to see his congressional majority erased and his power slashed for an entire second term. Meanwhile, the moronic party that had driven our country off a cliff economically and morally (Iraq) was rewarded by merely placating to the racism and boredom and all around stupidity of your average voter.

And the same thing will happen again soon. Trump and republicans will drive this country off another cliff. We’re entering a recession already. His tariffs and tax cuts and Medicaid will only hurt businesses and impoverish most of his voters. And the next Democratic president will have to waste their next term trying to repair the damage that Trump and doge have done. Most won’t even realize that it was Trump who did it since Medicaid cuts will be found on page A14 while Biden’s *** or trans panic or (whatever manufactured media story) will dominate the front page. And those who don’t read the newspaper will never even hear about Medicaid cuts. They’ll probably believe on Facebook that immigrants or pets ate their Medicaid coverage.

What exactly are these people saying when they complain about "wokeness"? They're saying they want the government to put a stop to the representation of women, ethnic and sexual minorities, people with disabilities, etc in the media and prevent efforts of normalizing them. In other words, the backlash against woke socialists is just a regular, boring, fascist movement. And Reagan is where this all started.

"Conservatives" want a continuation of the fascist project that began under Reagan, which had to take a back seat to the neoliberalism of the succeeding administrations.

I do agree with basically everything you're saying, however. I don't think this has anything to do with the economy. Like I've said multiple times, almost all critiques of economic policies come from liberals and leftists. Conservatives don't care about the economy. They care about enforcing what they see as the natural order of things, with white, straight, Christian, men on top.

Just found out that due to the Big Beautiful Billionaire Bonus Bill that just passed, I now have to pay an extra $100 dollars each year because my wife's car is a hybrid.
If you drive a fully electric vehicle then you have to pay an extra $250 each year.

I guess it's because drivers of those vehicles use less gas and therefore pay less taxes on the gas that they aren't buying and the taxes paid on gas goes towards fixing roads and stuff and hybrid drivers and electric vehicle drivers also use the roads so they should contribute as much towards roadwork.

And that actually makes sense but it still sucks. Also, why not make people pay a fee who simply drive less often and shorter distances?
If you walk (or ride a bike) to work or the store then you should be subjected to this extra fee. If you are retired and don't work and rarely drive then you should have to pay this fee. Use public transportation? Pay the fee. Carpool? Pay the fee. Live really close to work? Pay the fee.
You might say, well those people aren't using the roads as much so they shouldn't have to pay as much but I might own a hybrid or EV and also walk (or bike) to the store and to work and live close to work and be retired etc.

It feels like a fee that exists to incentivize people to buy gas only cars and punish those who don't buy gas only cars.

That's exactly what it is. It's about controlling people not about what's best for society. Full stop.

Keep your chin up, kid! The $200 registration fee for silencers has been eliminated so that should offset the EV fee for most people, right?

Stupidity is a badge of honor': How Kristi Noem follows in the 'grand tradition of Sarah Palin'

Story by Adam Lynch

Salon Senior writer Amanda Marcotte says President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement adores a “bimbo."

“In the world of MAGA, stupidity is a badge of honor for both sexes, but the heads of women need to be thoroughly empty,” Marcotte writes. “Book learning, in MAGA-land, is for lesbians and cat ladies. Intelligence gets in the way of the true duties of MAGA womanhood: keeping up your highly artificial appearance and, crucially, defending the man you serve with your whole heart and soul.”

As example, Marcotte said look to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem proudly proclaiming ignorance of the meaning behind habeas corpus. “‘Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country and suspend their right to,’ Noem said through her unnervingly Botox-inflated lips.”

Was Noem, who got a college degree through online courses, has taken the “role of the proud MAGA bimbo, in the grand tradition of figures like Sarah Palin," Marcotte writes. "The MAGA bimbo isn't just ignorant. She's contemptuous of people who actually know what they're talking about, especially if those facts-laden human beings are fellow women.”

Where the 20th-century version of the "bimbo" is a dim and mostly good-hearted woman, the MAGA movement makes the bimbo a nasty figure, “as cruel as she is dumb.” The modern right-wing man wants an attack dog, “someone who will charge in to fight your battles, unconstrained by intellectual concerns.”

“Ignorance is bliss,” said Marcotte, “at least for bigots.”

The origins of this bimbo devolution lies in reality TV like ‘The Apprentice,’ and ‘Real Housewives’, “where petty and cruel behavior is rewarded over human decency.”

Noem shapes herself around the stereotype of the wine-throwing real housewife, pairing “expensive clothes and plastic surgery with displays of breathtaking sadism, all performed as if she is literally too stupid to know better.”

“That's how we get pictures of Noem in full makeup with a $60,000 Rolex parading around in front of half-naked men in a torture prison, like she's a real-life "Ilsa, She Wolf of the S.S." Or wearing various uniforms with full makeup and a blowout to conduct raids, earning the nickname 'ICE Barbie.'"

“The bimbo can only act on impulse, never information. In this MAGA narrative, it's liberals who are the meanies for asking more of a woman viewed as mentally incapable of handling it,” Marcotte wrote.

Kristi Noem’s Gloat Over Dismissed Migrants Lawsuit Sparks Outrage

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem drew swift backlash on Thursday after posting a celebratory but crude message on social media in response to the dismissal of a lawsuit against her department.

“Suck it,” Noem wrote on X, formerly Twitter, attaching a screenshot of a court notice confirming that a group of 10 detained immigrants had voluntarily withdrawn their legal challenge to potentially being sent to Guantanamo.

Seven of the group had already been removed from the U.S. “rendering their claims moot” and three “no longer wished to continue litigating this case,” said the notice.

Critics condemned Noem’s post.

“What an absolute clown show,” one user wrote, while others described her response as “classless,” “embarrassing” and “beyond disgraceful.”

The cruelty is the point. We have a segment of our population that controls one political party, whose ethos is cruelty towards the “out group.” Stupid people empowered this party and group last November in no small part due to the crisis manufactured by the media. They manufactured an “inflation crisis” while ignoring the obvious mental health of Trump, the seriousness of his crimes, and what his 2024 proposals would do the economy.
