Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I'm still a big believer in Kas. If he's falling into the 11-15 range, then I would be supremely stoked if we could trade up from 21 to get him.
I'm hoping that we can standpat and get Ace. Ace, Hendricks, and Kessler can cover a lot of ground defensively and really swallow up the rim.

Thanks.

I'm also seeing he ranked 5th in all of college basketball for total turnovers. Any chance you can detail where those came from a bit? Was it heavy on passing, getting stripped, travelling, offensive fouling or even across the board?
I just watched about 15 minutes straight of Kas turnovers. I was hoping to see the majority were because he was just trying to do too much, but it was really a mixed bag to be honest.

I would say about half were not concerning and were due to miscommunication with teammates or trying to thread a tight needle, he also turns the ball over frequently with his foul baiting with offensive turnovers or making unnatural movements.

The other half are pretty concerning. He does get stripped by the better defenders he plays against and while I think he is a very good ball handler, you have to be elite to be a lead ball handler in the NBA. The other concerning thing was his turnovers due to athleticism concerns. He would get past his guy and then get stuck in the paint with nowhere to go, or at times tried to get separation and wasn't able to.

There were some careless passes in there as well, but I'm not overly concerned as it happens to everyone, but could be a sign of lack of focus at times.

I'm going to go watch all of his assists now so that I can get back on the hype train.

I posted the above awhile ago.

I think Ace is a much better defender than he is given credit for. Yes, he gets disengaged at times, but it's not that frequent and when he is engaged he is very impactful.

Do I have to believe Kas can become an on ball creator in the NBA to see his value?

Im looking at him vs Kon and I struggle to see where he clearly beats Kon... unless I predict that one can operate as an offensive engine and the other cant.

But I dont think either one can.

I do think that I personally might be a little too bullish on Kas's ability to scale down. There is an adjustment to learning how to move without the ball and to be impactful without the ball and not everybody can do it. That said, Kas is a good shooter, smart, rebounds, passes, plays tough. I think those are all good reasons to think he can play off ball as needed.

I can kinda see him as a Walmart version of Hayward. Maybe that means he’s Rodney Hood without anxiety issues, but he needs some kind of large immediate jump that will get him on the court. Path to contributing is his so hard if you can’t shoot or defend.

If he could shoot 36% from 3 as a rookie like Hood did, then, yeah, he's the guy. I wouldn't' hold my breath on that though. . .

I think his defensive upside is the only thing keeping him in the top 5 consensus. If I didnt think he could play defense, he would probably be more in the late teens.

Agree that Ace has defensive upside, his effort and focus was just a little hit and miss though. Great lateral movement and athleticism to go with his size.

Unfortunately that is a part of his game that I think will go wasted in Utah. PHI would have a good chance at unlocking that…not very optimistic on our chances however.

Wild rebound rate for a dude that gets knocked off his spots by guards, eh?

Feels like a shot at me. I was just sharing what I saw in the film.

His actual rebound rate (not just for this game) is good, but not great, especially considering how much longer he is than everyone else he plays with.

His Eurocup games have a pretty damn high rebound rate for a guy playing the 4.

I would say throughout the years Essengue has played, he usually has an elite defensive rebound rate for a guy playing the 4 (assuming he is usually playing the 4)

This model definitely gets my seal of approval. Great methods, documentation, and cool features like spider graphs, comparisons, and tiers.

Some things that stand out to me:

- Saraf (62) and Traore (91) ranked very low....International guards could be a blindspot
- Will Riley (83) just has awful indicators especially his steals
- Amari Williams (21) and Javon Small (26) are some deep sleepers I've seen on twitter and this model seems to validate that
- Kon (13), Tre (14), and Fears(15) not looking so great for potential 5-8 picks, especially because this model uses some consensous
- WCJ (7) and Sorber (9) are the two highest guys who could be in range for 21

Not a shot, a tease. You are one of my fav posters BTW.

I have not looked at dudes heights he is playing against but he's not in the Chinese Basketball league. He's playing grown men in the Bundesliga.

The best players in China are far better than the best players in the German League tho.

This is news to me.
China pays a ton of money to former NBA players and I believe they are allowed two foreign players per team, so the top players on these teams can be former NBA talent. Kenny Lofton JR is probably better than anyone in the BBL.
