Following Potential 2025 Draftees

In the entire history of the NBA, almost no one has said, "I want to get drafted by the Utah Jazz." Karl Malone was hoping to go to Dallas, and he cried when the Jazz drafted him.

If the Jazz want to draft a big-time star player, they need to tune out the noise and just take the guy they want.

I think Roy Hibbert might have said, "I'd love to play for the Jazz."

I have no idea one way or the other, but why are you continuing to assume its WAS? I am assuming its BKN but only because of "geographical advantage".
It could be but he is risking like 19M or 40% of his rookie scale contract if they aren't able to make a move up to take him. If the plan is "we will just take you at 8" its a trash plan. You are likely to lose money and end up in NO than actually get to 8. So Was seems like they okay worst likely scenario. Only lose 8-13M in that scenario.

Wash also did this with Sarr last year. Its kind of their playbook. Brooklyn could be a destination but think about it from the Utah/Cha perspective. Cost to move back to 6 vs 8 could be significant.

I think WAS is a good guess because 1) how much $$$ is Ace actually wanting to lose by sliding further and further and 2) WAS convinced Sarr to not workout with ATL with the promise of getting to get as many shots up as he wants. Ace is pretty clear on what he wants and how he views himself as a player. He wants buckets. WAS has done this trick before.
I'm going to laugh my *** off if Ace is trying to get to Brooklyn and loses 10-15M to wind up in NOP with the worst franchise in the sport. Have fun dumbass.

I kinda feel bad for Ace. I don’t think he’s trying to be some kind of mastermind, but the people around him are. I saw some really F’d up stuff about NOP as a franchise and how they’ve handled DJM. Nobody deserves that.

I don’t think Ace is the smartest player, but I do feel like he’s a guy who just wants to hoop.

Yeah you are right. He will take the brunt of some other "genius" big brain move. I do think even as a kid you gotta put the right guys around you and I get why these guys will pick people they know over pros they don't but... man the parents or someone gotta get another voice in the room.

Yeah I'd be doing everything I could to avoid going to NO. Including working out for the teams in the 1-6 range and making sure they see the talent and willingness to be coached. After seeing what DJ said I wanted to go buy low on as many NOP players as make sense. That environment is trash. The market is also dead.

Personality dictates destiny.

LaMelo is precisely the type of player we want to avoid. He's become a ball and chain around Charlotte: good enough to tantalize when he's on but not good enough to make his teammates and team better and is alway injured anyway. NBA teams are the masters of sunk cost fallacy thinking. Unwilling to move on from players who hold them hostage because of what they've invested in them, and maybe, just maybe, they'll defy all past experience and evidence and actually become what they're hoped to become. Recent and prominent examples include Zion and LaMelo. This what makes the Clipper's willingness to move on from PG so notable, but, on the flip side, why they yoked their future to another brittle, washed up superstar.

I don't know how much around Ace is smoke and how much is fire. But, NO is one franchise that should be particularly wary of taking on another problem child. Their irrational and undeserved commitment to Zion has ruined their franchise and prevented them from moving on to building a solid foundation for sustained winning.

NOP is the situation creating these problem children.

Perhaps some of it, but Zion surely is part of the problem as well. Unmotivated, undisciplined, unserious, out of shape, and brittle. NO should have moved on from him years ago and let him become someone else's problem. He's done little but hold the franchise hostage to his immaturity and brittle physique (in turn a function of his immaturity). But, they just can't quit him. Somebody there needs to nut up and cut the cord, regardless of what short-term opprobrium he'll get for it.

Of course, that's only my opinion.
