NBA Summer League Wild Overreaction Thread

I never understood the people here that want Knecht but hate Keyonte. Mainly be cause he tied the rookie 3 point record against us. Do you know who he tied?
My opinion is that fans waaaay overrate their rookies relative to other rookies, and really underrate their sophomores/juniors relative to other sophomores/juniors (for non-star players). We focus on what they're not while still viewing these other players that we don't know as well for what they could be.

Also to be fair, Knecht shot 59.5% TS as a rookie and has better size. I am not a Knecht believer and would honestly take Keyonte over him, but I get why people would like him.

I'm happy that Flagg is embracing his future as a role player by growing that silly chinbeard/moustache combo.

He looks like a 27 year old player called Steven Bikloff who was undrafted, went to Real Madrid for a few years and is now getting his big NBA chance playing 12mpg, taking some open threes and generally staying out of the way.

10 pts on 21 shots. Yikes.

Overall I thought he looked good. Love his passing. His scoring will be interesting to follow.
He looked incredible to me. He has to prove he can shoot, but I'm not worried about it. Got to where he wanted with the ball. Forced it to much and did an Ace Bailey impression.

What's funny is, where the melt down on Cooper' Flagg's night? The whole internet had a meltdown on Ace's 8 points the first game Flagg was worse 5-21 and 10 points
Because if you watched the game he looked really good.

But yes, the reaction to Ace was overboard. That's what happens when you create a lot of negative PR for yourself during the draft.

Yeah I really underestimated how bad his D was. Keyonte is definitely a better prospect, mainly due to age.

Will say that again. Silver really rigged Flagg into the worst situation possible. Under the current CBA, the least valuable contract you can possibly have is an overpaid washed star. And mavs have three of these. They literally have nothing to build around Cooper. He will end up becoming the post 06/07 version of AK47 who stood in the corner for 90% of the possessions. Eve if they want to move away from Kyrie/AD/Klay, they will have to sell them for scrubs and just become the 17/18 version of Nets as they control zero of their own FRPs beyond 2026.
