I used to think like this too but the truth is he doesn’t really affect winning as much as you’d think.

Nurk is also very easy to just bench. If there’s outrage over the Jazz benching Nurk it kind of illuminates how ridiculous/fake the whole thing was anyways.

I think we should open up roster spots to take some fliers on guys, but there are a lot of other geezers we can cut.

EPM and BPI both have the Jazz finishing with the 3rd worst record behind WAS and SAC, but it’s a close race!

It’s really going to come down to who wants it the most.

It’s hilarious to see the people who said the Jazz aren’t going to do the right thing back track and say well they should have done it sooner. You were wrong, it’s ok to admit it.

I am sure someone said that, but I don’t think any of the people you are likely referring to did. Everyone I can think of have had extremely consistent and coherent points on the matter (‘why are we white-knuckling our way to close wins by playing vets or playing our stars 40 minutes? This is going to require abominable tanking later when everyone else is.’)

I really would have liked a 2-80. **** the league. They know the tanking but have done $hit to correct it. Nobody asked anyone when GS got Harrison Barnes or when SA went from the ring to the number 1 pick.

There was never any reason not to start some of the tanking earlier… even now we are a couple games out of where we need to be… and no reason to not want to be even lower. To keep this going we will need to continue the more extreme actions which are the ones that get league attention and are the most grimy feeling.

Right now I think there is a top six forming in this draft. We want to be in that top 6 if we can’t move into the prime position. We may or may not accomplish that as of right now.

Being top six will require good luck because the Jazz are not achieving a bottom-2 record at this point. The Jazz easily could have gotten there if they won half as many of the outrageous number of close games that they have. Without looking it up, I reckon about half of the wins were determined by ~three possessions.

Anyway, I think we can get to 4 but it’s going to require unrelenting griminess.

UPDATE: the Jazz are 7-5 in games decided by 4 points or less.

If these games were consistent with the Jazz’s win%, they would be 4-8 in such games which is essentially tied for last place.

I think it would’ve been easy to lose all of those games by just not white-knuckling for victory, but if we balanced all of this out by not getting as grimy in as many of the games as we have then we’re sitting in the mix for the worst-record and not having to endure UPROAR.

Summary: I’m content with where we are at currently and the future is looking bright, but we could’ve done this better and we’ve benefitted from some good luck. I’m gonna be nervous until we finish bottom-4.
