I am not a Favors hater nor a Favors apologist. I see him as a young player with tons of potential who sometimes plays great, and sometimes looks lost. Potential is a dangerous word, it gets fans to see things that aren't really so and can get NBA coaches & GMs fired.
Right now in his second season Favors numbers look almost identical to Kwame Brown's numbers in his 2nd season. see here:
If that doesn't make you nervous, then you got more nerve than me. My biggest concern is not his physical skills, its mental. Hopefully he can grow out of those little lapses. But until then, I'm not ready to crown him as the next Jazz
Random comparisons don't make me nervous at all. I think Favors can already be counted on to be a net positive in the game for the Jazz. Even when he is offensively impotent (which isn't rare), he always is a defensive force to be reckoned with. The game looks very different with him on the floor, and teams quickly adjust to his inside presence by commencing a chuck-fest. I think a 20 year old who's already the best defender on the team, and shows great offensive promise, is something to be excited about.
