Jazz back in talks with Josh Howard

Maybe they weren't thrilled with Burks' pre-season. Other than scoring, he wasn't exactly impressive, right? From a passing, rebounding, defensive perspective I mean...

Just when I was happy about the off season, the Jazz always seem to do one thing that I just don't understand. If they sign him I will just shake my head with disgust. I just do not understand how Howard is even a consideration at this point. Can someone give me a decent explanation why the Jazz would re-sign Howard when they already have Carroll, Hayward, Williams and even Millsap at the SF. Talk about a logjam and a head scratcher.

Obviously they feel they need a starter.

Howard isn't a bad signing. Look at our SF's:

Marvin Williams. Starting SF. Solid player, not great.
Hayward. Better SG.
Carroll. Reason why he spent 90% of last season in the D-League.
Millsap. The dude ain't a SF.
Plus, signing Howard allows the Jazz to trade Millsap a little bit more than before.

As long as Howard is coming in as a backup's backup guy, 10-15 mins a night, he is a good signing. We aren't talking Hayward/Williams vs Howard for playing time. We are taking Carroll vs Howard for playing time.

Here is our rotation:

Mo, Foye, Watson, Tinsley
Hayward, Burks, Foye
Williams, Howard, Hayward, Carroll
Jefferson, Millsap, Evans
Favors, Kanter

I just read what I wrote and even I don't buy it. Signing Howard would suck.

With this being Corbin's last year on his deal, do you think he is pushing the FO to sign Howard?

Why would the FO do something based on what Corbin wants? I will puke if we re-sign him. Hayward, Carroll, Williams, and even Millsap is not enough at the 3 like someone else said? If we sign another wing at least go with a guy who can hit 3s like
Barbosa (combo guy---a lot like Foye I know) or Delfino.

They won't SIGN somebody Corbin wants, but I could see Lindsey talking to Howard because Corbin wants him to, just to keep the peace.

Anyways, ever since the Jazz hired a new GM, and since I found out this is Corbin's last guaranteed year on his deal, I think he is gone after this year. Lindsey gets a year to look at things, tinker a little bit, then make his own team, with his own coach next year.

With how much Jeff Van Gundy praised Lindsey......

From the sounds of things, Howard was a good locker room guy last year. If he is signed, I expect Tinsley and him to just be mentors and good practice players.

... this is really odd, though. No doubt.
