Following potential 2014 draftees

Word out of Washington DC from Kevin Durrants Nike Game:

  • 1 NBA source in attendance believes Jabari is as good or better than Andrew Wiggins, the consensus top prospect in the class.
  • Wrote about the highly-anticipated 2014 NBA Draft yesterday. Related: Simeon's Jabari Parker, an incoming freshman at Duke was at Kevin Durant's Nike camp in DC. Heard he stole the show, even held his own playing with/against KD.

also id like to add that Julius Randle isnt much bigger than Parker... (i just realized this)

Jabari Parker
Height*: 6’8
Weight: 241
Reach: 8’8
Wingspan: 7’0

Julius Randle
Height*: 6’9
Weight: 248
Reach: 8’9.5
Wingspan: 6’11

^^^ is what they measured at the Nike Hoops Summit

Duke is gonna be very tough next season

i was under the impression Parker was 215, as hes been listed near for quite sometime

at the Euro Summit he measured 241lbs..... who knew?

at the 2013 summit Wiggins was on the world team who cruised to a victory,

parker had more FGA's(23) than points(22)... on 1-9 3point shooting

to me the best player on the court that day(other than Schroder, who stole the show), wasnt Wiggins or Parker, it was Karl Towns Jr

I'd say that, right now, Jabari is better than Wiggins.. but Wiggins just has too much.... he will be talked about with the likes of James and Jordan within 5 years. (And Jabari a perennial all star)

Karl Towns is going to be extremely fun to watch. Incredibly skilled (at everything) for a Very young 7'1 guy.

We're all wrong from time to time. I have a great track record of projecting players but certainly miss some.

Having said that, I stand by what I have said about Bennett. I think him at a #1 pick is a joke. I like him a lot.. but I liked him around 9/10.
I didn't even like him at 4/5.

I think he's more a novelty. Average defender, good shot/not elite, and not quick enough to guard most SF's.
I see him getting his **** stuffed at the rim quite a bit.

Again, I'm not calling him a bust or even hating on him..... I'm hatin on CLE.

His shot is pretty damn elite for a big...just sayin. He is super explosive, strong and long so totally disagree with you on the poster boy comment. He totally faded the last half of the year and I hated on him for that, but it became known that he was injured during that same stretch. He was beasting against some good competetion before league play and id like to believe that is more of the Bennett we will see in the NBA baring further injuries which is my biggest concern with him.

I respect your position. I doubt we're even as far apart as it sounds.. most of my angst if more about the draft positiin than the player...... but I hated every single player at #1 in this draft... its like there were a bunch of guys that are like a 6/7, but no top 5 guys.

So, again, I like Bennett and think he'll be a good, but not great, pro.

My guess is the Cavs want to play a lot of small ball with Thompson at center and Bennett as a stretch 4. Or perhaps they aren't really enamored with Thompson and would secretly like to move him. He puts up acceptable numbers, but don't know if he is a starting PF on a contending team.

worried about Bennett getting blocked?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYpwWYw7lvc

at 1:30 wiggins throws down a dunk, runs back on defense, blocks the **** outa randle, then his teammate... Randle cant even scowl hes just scoreboard watching after the rejection

also Andrew Wiggins is an underclassman, Randle is the senior (the video to me looks like Randle is the underclassman going at Wiggins, whilst wiggins is in cruise control)

Randle tried to elbow and shove wiggins around this whole game, and got TRASHED in the 1v1, check the frustration in his offensive game, also Randle fouled out of this game with 15points

Wiggins scored 28 and his team won

when i watch this video of randle being a dooshe and sore loser, it makes sense that Wiggins didnt go to UK

randle will get tons of offensive fouls in the nba if hes gonna swing his elbows like that...

before we annoint other players over Wiggins lets remember this key point

Andrew Wiggins is as quick as a cat, none of these other 2014 guys are quick like that

to me Randle looks like a total dynamo half court player, inside of 18 feet.

in transition his handle is impressive for a player of that size (like anthony bennett)

to me Wiggins quickness is 10/10, so id never take him off the top spot,

but id take Parker over Randle, from what ive seen recently

Parker is really polished and efficent, hes always going to be crazy low turnovers, plus hes a threat from mid-range, 3, as a slasher and a passer. plus his BBIQ is much higher, as is his court vision

is Julius Randle a proficient FT shooter? or even a proficient FG% guy?

nike hoops summit 26minutes 9/17fg's 19 points, 1/4 FT's
at the Jordan Classic he went 3/7 at the FT line

i see in his fiba lines hes got some 8/12 FT shooting games but i see some 50% games too, i cant find proper stats nor do i have the time or energy to search for more than a minute

also is julius Randle ever going to be more than a 1:1 Assist to turnover guy? i think not

so whilst hes very dominant in his niche, give me Wiggins or Parker all day

also id take Noah Vonleh over Randle... but thats just me, i like Triple threat players, like lebron, everyones gonna taunt randle to shoot

i always base my ratings out of 100, this isnt up to the point where ive discussed it ad nasuem like the 2013 group

but basically i can give you a nice rough draft really quick,

#1 Wiggins 99/100
#2 Parker 97/100
#3 Andrew Harrison 97/100
#4 Mario Hezonja 96/100
#5 Noah Vonleh 96/100
#6 Julius Randle 96/100
#7 Aaron Gordon 95/100
#8 Marcus Smart 94/100
#9 James Young 94/100
#10 Dante Exum 94/100

(for perspective i had Len at 97, Shabazz at 96, Noel and Bennett at 95's)

i would have Kasey Hill in the top 10, but i need to see him return to form, Schroder dismantled him in the Summit game

Dear king of hyperbole,

Who anointed any player over Wiggins?

Thanks,

Everyone

I agree with Parker over Randle.. but not Vonleh. I may change my mind.. but having watched them both for two years.. that's how I see it.

Your methodology smells of bs but your list is pretty good. I really only have a prob with randle too low and vonleh too high.
