What's new

The **OFFICIAL** Rudy Gobert is awesome how did he fall to the 27th pick? Thread

I have wondered that myself. The rivers they filmed on for the river wild are pretty intense, and the one in deliverance is even more difficult. I think it was probably not them some of the time. I have a hard enough time training my new guides every spring, let alone some Hollywood actors!

Yeah I know! Some shots are really realistic too!!! Same with Deliverance, one of my 10 most fav. movie... I usually just fast pass the pig scene though..hahaha..

Same with "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" - loved the whole movie, but I'd have to fast forward the rape part if I'm gonna watch it again.

It's a shame really... they don't need those scenes IMO.

In the pre-draft footage I saw of him he was getting pushed around quite easily. By guys Millsap's size.

I've only had a chance to see one of the summer games, game #1, and I'm curious if this is not a big problem for him. I figured when we drafted him that this was going to be his main problem, not scoring, but just not being heavy/strong enough to hold his position.

So, how's he doing with that?

Surprisingly well, IMO.

The main place where lack of strength has been hurting him is in securing rebounds. He gets the ball stripped really easily.

So your river rafing business is in Jackson Hole? Might need to come up there for a visit.

Seems to me he's more than holding his own against SL players... Also don't forget something KOC always like saying - if a player has wide shoulder, it's more than likely that player would bulk up and fill out the frame in time.

I don't think that would have deterred them at all in picking him.

And so me were putting me down for saying that if Gobert can put on 20 to 30 lbs., he would be better than Mark Eaton. How many of you think he can be better than Mark was?

I love this kid. He has surprised me with his effort and intensity. He does need to get stronger in the upper body because he has trouble securing rebounds and guys are driving into his chest to push him back so they can shoot. As he gets stronger he won't lose the rebounds and won't be so easily moved (fall back). However, I have already seen improvement in SL regarding these issues.

Another nice thing his he shows a nice touch at the foul line and made a nice turn around jumper. The tip in was ridiculous. I certainly can see him play some back up minutes. The crazy thing is he has been playing with an in grown nail on his foot so who knows how much that has bother him. The fact he is playing only makes me like the kid even more. I think the Jazz have found a gem at the bottom of the first round.

I swear to you UGLI if Gobert bust cause of this thread!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed how Myck Kabongo's draft stock started plummeting the moment UGLI began to hype him?
