Is it time to release the secret offensive weapon of the Utah Jazz?

Time to whip it out?

you arent considering the option that he could actually make the shot... if it goes in, that is better than (a miss and) an offensive rebound, and is worth 150% of the two point shot that would result from the o-reb. he doesnt need to grab o-rebs when he makes the shot... 3 pt shots and ft's are the most efficient shots in basketball. a 35% 3-pt shooter is equivalent to a 52.5% 2-pt shooter. if you have someone who can make them at a decent clip, (who knows if kanter is that guy or not -- just speculating --), then i think you have them take that shot, no question.

That's too simplistic, because as you know, whereas a missed 3's is a free-for-all, but a missed 2 close to the rim means the shooter has a pretty decent chance of grabbing his/her own rebound and put it back in.

Speaking of this, I believe Kanter is probably the best player on our team in grabbing a rebound off of his own missed shot and putting it back in.

Do you have any evidence that missed 3s lead to worse outcomes for the offense than missed 2s?

Even though virtually all of your posts were about the value of stretch bigs IN GENERAL. Nice backpedal.

Do you think I would tell Dirk to stop shooting 3's when he plays alongside Tyson Chandler? Not likely.

And, again, this is nonsensical. To be defense, you must be defending. If the other team doesn't have possession of the ball, you can't possibly be defending. Which team has possession of the ball prior to an offensive rebound? Further, as pointed out by jope, a made shot is ALWAYS better than an offensive rebound. A team that is unable to make shots but does well on the offensive glass, eventually loses possession to the opposing team. If their actual defense is no good, this combination is terrible all-around.

Are you just trolling?

See my comment above regarding rebounding off of a 3pter VS rebounding off of a 2pter close to the rim.

Also do you have a problem with "prevention is the best cure" mantra? I would rather someone take a vaccine to prevent a disease than trying to cure the disease afterwards.

I swear, i need to find an app for my browser that blocks anything related to 'tanks'. Did I just read a line in a poll that suggests that we should restrict the development of a core player because it might 'hurt the tank'? Guys, the Kings are looking for fans, and they are much more likely to get Wiggins than the Jazz are seeing as they re-signed a mental patient who doesn't play defense to a max contract. We're going to try and win if you don't mind, so you might like it better there.

Edit: and yes, Kanter should shoot the three if he can make them. In fact with Favors being more of a post player, that makes perfect sense.

Well unless you have a solid Center in the middle of the paint and able to clean up the glass if you do miss the 3pt shot.

Dirk. Had Chandler, former DPOY.

Big Z. Had Marc Gasol, current DPOY

Rasheed Wallace. Had Ben Wallace, again, former DPOY

Another example would be the Magic when they had Dwight in the middle of the paint surrounded by 3pt shooters/stretch 4's.

Don't see how this is valid based on the Jazz... Favors can anchor the defense, making Kanter the outside shooter and Favors playing center.

btw, "dairy queen" is a term that has pretty wide usage. The stg rep train or EYE group can't claim it in good conscience.

Please show me proof of dairy-queen being used widely in this context

Who woulda thunk that NAOS wants to join the STG

Legit ROFLd when I saw NAOS use the term dairy-queen after JFC-all time great, Dalabreezy, made it a Jazzfanzism

Feeling like a bawse tbh
