According to ESPN, Lakers showing strong interest in NY Knicks' Shumpert to help with their backcourt. What if the Jazz offered Hayward + future draft pick (beyond 2014) to the Lakers in exchange for their 2014 1st rounder (unprotected) plus scrubs? We know Kobe thinks highly of Hayward, and he's a better all around player than Shumpert, right? Let's face it, in order to pry a prized 2014 1st round pick away from a lottery team, we can't be offering any garbage, it's gonna take our best player.
Like Colin Cowherd always says...the NBA is more prosperous when the "marquee" teams are successful (Celtics, Knicks, Lakers). Boston will probably make the playoffs in the pathetic eastern conference, the Knicks don't have a 2014 1st round pick, so that only leaves the Lakers. Call me cynical, but I could see the Lakers "miraculously" winning the lottery so that one of the League's flagship teams can get back on track as a championship contender.
Not only would such a trade help the Jazz tank get back on track, it also eliminates some of our ping pong ball competition.
