I agree
I have a hard time believing this, most of the greatest drafts ever have still only had 6 or 7 big-time players. I hope to god you're right though.
Seattle is spot on in regards to Smart.
Just because a player can bust his butt for a drill doesn't mean he'll make the same effort and be as fast in an actual game. Ask Derrick Williams.
of course. game tape matters too. but the workout numbers help. it confirms thing. we all knew gordon is an athlete. and he confirmed that he is indeed a great athlete. and we do not have enough game tapes on these players. many of these studs are young. so as an armchair scout, you gotta try to gather all the info and draw reasonably educated guess.
and no matter what anybody say, size does matter in nba. it's always good to have a guy with good size. we can't measure heart and desire, but we can measure size. i don't want 6ft 5 power forward. there is no such thing unless you are barkley or larry johnson. it matters. i want my jazz to have some length and athleticism. that's a reasonable wish list.
I would argue you can measure heart and desire and Randle to me has plenty of both.

The main complaint about Randle's athleticism has not been has lack of vert, it's how long it takes him to get off the ground. He has to really bend his knees and get down low, then jump off of two feet.
That's another thing that's so amazing about Wiggins' athletic ability. Not only does he have an unreal vertical, but he can fully utilize it in the blink of an eye. One second he's just standing there, and the next his elbows are above the rim.
The point is there is a lot more to someone's athleticism than just the numbers that are recorded at the combine. These numbers tell only a fraction of the story. You have to watch a player actually play the game to judge their athleticism.
-Julius Randle performed up to expectations in the athletic testing, posting a very solid 35.5 inch maximum vertical leap jumping off of on leg. While that isn't a truly outstanding mark when ranked among the rest of this year's field, it is among the best jumps recorded by a player weighing more than 250 pounds in our historical database. Randle's combination of strength and explosiveness is a big part of why he ranks among the top prospects in this class. Randle's others tests all ranked right around average, which is not surprising considering its always been his tremendous combination of strength, skill and scoring instincts that separate him as a basketball player, not his pure athleticism.

any thoughts on Cleanthony Early's combine? hes dropped from the 1st round of DX's mock
he had great Vert #'s but i dont think he shot the ball well
Gary Harris dropped to #17 on DX's big board...
Ouch!!!
Also DX has continued to caution Aaron Gordon... despite strong showing at the Combine he's still #11 on DX's big board.
That surprises me too.
