I think Jason should up the age requirement from 13 to 14 to get rid of these little cheerleaders.

(brand) New coach (brand) new system (brand) new players. Adding as coach with zero pro coaching experience and a bunch of rookies does not always equal great improvement. I absolutely think (and hope) that QS will be light years better than Corbin, but being realistic what does that mean? We might be better in some aspects of the game, or we should be better in some aspects of the game, if not most. And in other words holy **** do I hope they are better in many aspects of the game. But we didn't add a bunch of seasoned vets and superstars along with a HOF coach. Everyone is new, or young and learning. This tells me that if we equal wins from last season we are doing pretty good. We may fall below as everyone gets acclimated. I sure hope the individual players show improvement. Etc. etc. I am just not holding my breath. I think realistically we could see a step back in wins, but many solid steps forward in building a foundation that will shoot us upwards in years to come. I just don't see that drastic of an improvement for this first season with this new group.
 
Log you are putting way too much stock into this "new coach" thing.


Quin's schemes alone will bump us 10 games from last year. Book it.
 
Budenholzer, Clifford, Hornacek were all "brand new" coaches.

Hollins has eons more experience than Quin-- does that mean that Hollins would have taken our Jazz team to a 10th seed?

I have my strong doubts.

and yes, i was wrong about snyder, maybe he's not the coach that can win it all, but he's perfect the job, for this young team

if we can have a phx like season, this will be huge!

i bought a lp today, so yeah, i'm excited about this season!
 
This is the first time I don't even skip the free throw routines watching the game from LP archive. Most fun to watch Jazz team and coach for a long time man.

I actually think that this team will be hugely improved on offense and defense and with their pace, efficiency and rebounding. With that said, I'm not sure that means that they will have a huge increase in wins simply because it is year one with a new coach and the players ALL have to learn the system. I'm encouraged by what I've seen so far. The Jazz were a rudderless ship wandering the ocean aimlessly under Ty Corbin. With Snyder at the helm, I think that they're finally on a path that will lead to success. The players are all young and improving. It will take time, but things are much better than they have been for the past few seasons. They still need a true #1 option, but I am highly confident in DL's ability to find one. I love how the roster is currently looking and I LOVE how the players are responding to Quin Snyder. This is still year 2 of a five year rebuild. Long ways to go, but the results are encouraging so far.

Great posts and reasoned responses. I think that an improvement in Favors and Hayward, plus actually getting the most out of Gobert, Burks, Kanter (hopefully), Burke and Exum will lead to a much better season than any under Corbin - even if the record doesn't reflect that.
 
In a way I'll agree with log...except that I think the Jazz significantly under performed last year for a number of reasons. So, if they didn't really get any better but are motivated and don't suffer any major injuries I see them as a 30+ win team, easy.

But I do think they are playing a better system. A new coach who is showing real coaching skills is better than a bad coach. Plus there is a real bench this year. The team is still young but for the most part you can't call them rookies anymore.

But I also really hope you are right. I would love nothing more than to be the Jimmy Chitwoods of the NBA this year. I just don't see it realistically, but I think we will still be better off than we ever were under Corbin.



Sometimes I feel bad about that too, because I thought Corbin was a nice guy and I liked him as a player and assistant coach. The poor guy just absolutely could NOT coach at the head coach level in the NBA. I hope his next gig brings him some success.
 
On the 19th, Locke tweeted that the Jazz offense is 7th and their defense 2nd in the NBA preseason.

That's awesome. I expect those numbers to go down but that is a heck of a lot better than last year.
