What's new

It's the most wonderful time of the year (first game of the year!). Hou @ Jazz Game 1 of many.

Don't think we have a problem shooting 3's, just think our offense never got into it's flow. Once we get the offensive running smoother vs. pressure defense the shots will come more easily.

when you miss those open 3s players start to hesitate. missed jumpers kill the flow. this game needed to be one of those high scoring thrillers. but we just can't match rockets' fire power

So the PRO VS CON Hayward stuff is still going on? Oof. Don't you folks get tired of arguing the same stuff over and over?

I have no idea why you are bashing on Hayward! He played an all around great game, with the exception of shooting... He has 8 rebounds and 7 assists, he was distributing the ball nicely and creating open shots... Just his own shots were not falling and the refs screwed him up on several non-calls... With that said... he needs to knock most of those open shots down!

Max players have to score! Full stop.

Kirilenko was a great all-round player too...but nobody ever said he deserved his max contract!

My take away from this game.
.
Kanter sucked ***. Seriously the guy looks lost and confused defensively. Not showing on pick and rolls, not stepping out on 3 point shooters and putting up virtually no resistance on Howard in the post. I'm not sure he makes up for his piss poor defense on the other end. Even if he learns to shoot outside I don't think he'll ever make up for his defense. He must play much better on that end or Booker should get most of his minutes.
.
Hayward and Burke struggled shooting (What else is new) this time the looks were open and they can't blame being rushed at the end of the clock.
.
Overall I thought the team played fairly well. Had some stretches where they just did not get out to shooters but that Rockets team is a good team and I expected them to beat the Jazz.

I'm with Cy in that, yeah, we sucked at a few facets of the game, but we played one of the best teams out of the gate.

Loved Rudy, loved Booker and loved of few things here and there. Less retarded fandom and more basic NBA knowledge would be hella dope around here.

All I got to say is the Jazz better get use to defending this model of offense. Nearly every team in the West looks for an open 3 as their first option now. Warriors, Mavs, Spurs, Rockets, Suns, etc
Any weak links defending this need to be purged. Booker fits, Kanter does not.

If I was on the Jazz, I'd be all like 'you want the ball Harden?' and I'd show it to him, and then just as he falls for my trap, BAM! I'd run past him for a top 10 highlight slam dunk. I don't know what those bums are doing everyday at practice.

You really thought the Jazz were going to beat the Rockets?
