The trade deadline in Feb 19. Sometime between now(Jan. 20) and then Goran Dragic is going to become a Jazz man. I have consulted the tea leaves, Miss Cleo, and a Magic 8-ball. It's happening so celebrate.

Jazz trade Burke, let kanter go and sign Dragic, Matthews and DMC!

Gobert/
Favors/Booker
Hayward/DMC/Hood
Matthews/Burks/Hood
Dragic/Exum/Clark

Plus a rookie and a backup C. That's 13 players. They shuffle thru D league guys, as the Jazz have shown a tendency to do, in an attempt to find a diamond in the rough.

Edit: I don't care if it is impossible. I. DON'T. CARE.

GO JAZZ!!!

Food for thought. . .

Goran Dragic was drafted in the 2nd round by the San Antonio Spurs in 2008. Coincidentally (or not) Dennis Lindsey was Assistant GM for the Spurs at the time. There's no other player out there who makes as much sense for the Jazz as The Dragon. He'd instantly improve the offensive output of Favors and Hayward, just by being a much more efficient option than Burke. A 4 year deal gives Exum time to develop behind a cusp All Star caliber player.

I don't think Phoenix trades him (because they'd basically be giving up on a playoff run) but when OKC and San Antonio turn up the heat, the Suns will be on the outside looking in. Could give him a reason (along with a big, fat contract) to bolt. The key is to make Utah a preferred destination. With Gobert, Favors and Hayward all playing like they have, I think a move or two like this could really jump start things, and Gobert seems like the kind of guy who can recruit his *** off.

As crazy as it sounds, I think Goran Dragic is exactly the type of "Reggie White" type of player who could choose the smaller market because they're a young and ascending team. If the Suns do trade him, the Jazz need to be in the conversation because whoever gets him will have a head start on selling him on their vision of the future.

Jazz would have to let Kanter go in order to sign any quality (i.e. expensive) free agents. Cap line is expected to be around $66 million, and his cap hold accounts for nearly all of that. Instead of Matthews, Jazz should start shopping Burke and Kanter and then package them with multiple draft picks to add a starting wing to go with Hayward. Unless it's Butler, they should target players on rookie contracts so they have the cap flexibility to be a player in free agency.

Starters = Gobert, Favors, Hayward, the new wing and Dragic
Bench = Burks (6th man), 2015 draft pick (top ten BPA), Booker, a new big added in the draft or FA to fill Kanter's spot, Hood, Exum, Jingles and Neto. Considering that DeMarre Carroll has been up and down this season, I'd go after him as a 3 & D backup for Hayward.

Oh, and then because I've absolutely effing killed it this offseason, I steal Chip Engelland from the Spurs and roll like a boss.
