Just wanted to get that off my chest.
I was never that excited about getting Raja like many Jazz fans. Mainly, because I was pissed the Jazz let Matthews go but also because he is a shell of the player he was. I like his leadership but in the end he is a weak link offensively.
I think changes need to be made. First either Millsap or Jefferson need to go to the bench. My preference is Millsap simply because of his lack of size and the need for his offense on the bench. Millsap has struggle offensively lately because guys are making him play on the defensive end. If he is on the bench then he and CJ are the primary scorers.
Moving Millsap to the bench allows Jefferson to play at PF and to move either Okur or Fess in the starting lineup. I much prefer to have Okur in the starting lineup because of his height and outside shooting. If Fess starts (plays limited minutes) the Jazz seem to play better defensively. Our weak defense is a major reason why the Jazz start off slow. With a combination of Okur and Jefferson, the Jazz can play inside/out opening up the lane for DW.
The last change I would love to see is adding a player SG/SF who can create his shot and is tough minded.
My final thought was that Kris Humphries has come a long way. I thought he just killed the Jazz last night with his scoring off the bench. He is NJs best rebounder and he is a bench player (9.3).
anyone who thought Millsap could handle starting PF duties was also up in the night. We saw the year he took over for Boozer how he faded later in the year, and now we are seeing him somewhat fading now (at least in terms of consistency). That is why I advocate a change to the starting lineup to see if we can inject some life so we can enjoy the games leading up to our second round exit in the playoffs.
Are you saying put Sap in the second unit? Maby we take it a step more, take Ak out of the starting lineup, make him the backup sf bring in Elson to play ether c or pf and have Cj start play Ak and Sap starter minuts as 6th and 7th men off the bench.
Ak would play against crappier players and Sap can dominate the other teams #2 pf and, be the main offensive threat off the bench. At this point I don't know if it would work but who knows.
