Golden State visits the Holy Jazz - An Official Game Thread

Thought I had during the game. I starteded to think maybe Ingles could be the next Wes Matthews. Wes came in and wasn't very offensive but was a spark plug and played great defense. Ingles offense was none existent to start the year but like Wes with defense, ingles came in and we could see he was a good playmaker and spark plug for this team, and like Matthews his offense is starting to come around some and he's starting to look like a real nba player on offense, and while his defense isn't great it's not bad either. I could see him being a long term starter on the team.

It's probably easy to think he's not going to get much better then he is now, but that's what most thought of Wes after Portland offered him a deal that the jazz felt was too much money. I think ingles will continue to improve just as Matthews did.

I know Dante has this reputation of being soft in his offensive game, but I've noticed something when he fights for position or to deny a pass he really hustles and tries hard, especially when he gets switched to a bigger guy. I've seen him numerous times on the low block trying to deny the pass to a much bigger opponent. Here's a situation from today's game where he simply refused to be walked over by Bogut and even boxed(pushed) him out of the way under the rim so Favors can get the rebound:

I love that... I wish he had more of those kinds of moments in offense, where he showed determination and physical play when going to the rim ...

I didn't see that in real time. Awesome from Dante. Agree that I would like to see more fire offensively, but he has the tools to come back with massive improvements each year for the next 4-5 seasons. I have a lot of confidence he will improve and his ceiling is tremendous.

Fixed.

Also, I have been driving a limo for comic con and Sundance. I drive that Jaime lannister guy around last night. And Matt smith from doctor who. And a girl from doctor who. And some famous actor who looked like heath ledger, only not dead.
Love Matt Smith. Which doctor who girl was it? There are a couple I love and a couple I don't.

I like this team's ability to get up for big games. Rather than being intimidated, they take their performance to a higher level. Tonight's game is a great example, the clippers game and the OKC game a few weeks ago, are a couple more. It seems there is lots of room for this team to grow.

You can hate on Trey, but those drive and kick-outs to a wide open Favors in the fourth quarter were things of beauty, and something Trey didn't do last year. Those three balls at opportune times didn't hurt either. Trey avoided the paint last year like Dante does this year. I'm not going to crucify him for going into the paint at this point, even if it is ill advised, because we need him to develop that part of his game. Dude is still young and has a lot of development to do and we have a coach who will get him there. . .

Let's not get carried away here. Also remember, Joe is not a spring chicken and he will never be on the same level as Matthews.

Hayward was in Beast Mode tonight and if the Jazz could get that 4 out of 5 games, they would win 3 of them.

This. That's the kind of Hayward I like to see. If not putting numbers according to what he's being paid, at least making the appropriate effort.
And tonight he did put up the numbers as well.

I agree with that. Pretty interesting though to see Joe starting to put up some nice stats. I have thought he was kinda useless before now, smart, but no very skilled. Coach Q is looking more and more like a genius. And just how nicely is Sacto doing under Ty?

Great catch there! Channeled aggression is so important in this league. If you watch Manu Ginobili, he is aggressive in every aspect of the game and backs down from no one. He'll do this type of thing to bigs all the time. So glad he's starting to be a little more aggressive.

I didn`t watch the game, but if Al Jefferson had 15 points on 15 shots like Derrick had tonight, he would be pissed on by everyone in here.
I was going to chime but saw it was already covered
Not if he was also playing the type of defense that Favors played tonight.

Favs plays both ends of the floor and gets his points in the flow of the offense. Al had to have the offense revolve around him to get his 1 pps. And Als defensive woes are well chronicled. Al is second to last in RPM for centers this year... Please don't put Al and Favs in the same sentence.

This is why Bodhi is the best poster on this board. Too many times, Trey was dribbling with no intent and then had to hurry up a shot. Dribbling with no intent to drive or create is one of the worst things a point guard can do.

Back off Warchild. Seriously.
Does bodhi have the most reps? I think not
Bodhi suxxx!

Hayward had a monster game too. 26pts, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Nice.
Got damn.

Did you get a chance to talk jazz bball with Jaime lannister? I bet he was impressed by the jazz

Memphis and Chicago also come to mind

I thought Amelia Pond was advertised. Rory was left behind somewhere.
is she the redhead one? I don't know the names. I had to look up Matt smiths name, I just knew I had seen him. And he was talking about how his girlfriend was going to be Cinderella. Also, Matt smiths agent was telling him about how the mo tab had invited him to narrate 4 nights of their Christmas thing. I told him he should do it because people like james Taylor do it, and it's pretty cool.

Play of the game was Hayward contesting Green's dunk attempt on the break. Ingles and Booker played big parts in the win. Burke was better than the last few. I thought Kanter didn't try to force things, and had a nice quiet game. Hayward was throwing his body around, and he played like a man tonight. Fun game.
