With his combination of upside, versatility, and personality, there are few players that I would currently trade Lauri for. I think that we have our 1B star for the future. Do we need to reiterate how much of a stud Ainge is?!!!
I would have loved Dame about 5 years ago, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it, though. However, if we got Maxey instead, he seems to be the type of young PG that we would need.
It's not a bad idea at all.
I only see Lauri getting better. He has a strong work ethic and attitude. What was so promising last year was how incredible he was, and I don't feel that he even really got his outside shot going. His inside attacking game was surprising.
I am down with the core 4 of Lauri, Kessler, Ochai, and Sexton. Dump everything else and build for the future. This offseason is going to be epic with the draft picks and cap space.
Another thing that is so great about the Jazz's current situation is that they are getting great production out of cheap contracts. Out of all the players on the team, does anyone strike you as someone that would demand a big contract outside of Markkanen? Plus, they already have Sexton on a...
What is crazy is that I now see Clarkson as a part of the long-term plan. His loyalty to the franchise and his switch to more of a leader/facilitator has been incredible.
The Horford comparison is actually a really good one. He is clutch, savvy, good passer, high IQ, etc. I have been very pleasantly surprised on how big of an impact he has made.
A couple of main points:
1. The Jazz have actually played good teams, so the competition has been there
2. They have showed that they can get up big on teams, so there is a certain level of superiority that has been shown
3. Sure, they have lost those leads, but unlike in previous years, they...
As has been mentioned, the refreshing part is that there seems to be chemistry and a lot of hustle. Even though he has absolutely no offensive game, I really like Vanderbilt. He is the type of gritty, hustle guy that this team has needed in the past. It's a shame, but Vando and even Olynyk are...
I'm probably most excited to see Markkanen, the rich man's Dirk.
However, Vanderbilt is going to be a lot of fun. If he was on the team from the last couple of years, he may have been that spark that put us over the top.
A part of me feels that this team will significantly overperform to the chagrin of management and threaten to make the playoffs.
I saw a breakdown in which the Jazz may have the best offense in the league (the 3 point shooting will be glorious), but the D could be dead last.
