Since it seems like the Jazz are an actual legit play-in contender now, might as well start a playoff thread. I dedicate this thread to @Thee Idiotic Minivan K

Crazy that the Jazz are ahead of the Warriors in the standings despite playing 7 more road games.

That's the big positive sign for me, the Jazz have played a ton of road games and they are a terrible road team. The Rockets have only played 14 road games and are an even worse road team. The Suns have only played 15 road games as well (though they had played the same on the road vs home).

Kings are struggling. Now have a negative point differential and have only played 15 road games.

New Orleans seems to be legit. As long as they keep relative health, they should be in it.

The Kings, Rockets, Suns, and Lakers are all teams Utah could pass.

No one has solved the zone defense. It might just work in the long-term with our active guards and Kessler. Hardy is giving Ainge a headache that he thought he solved. Lol.

I think this is what Ainge wants. He likes to have his options.

If the Jazz are nipping on the heals of teams that really want to win now, it gives them a bonus incentive to deal with us at it weakens their competition and improves their team.

The way things have recently changed, I would not be surprised if the Jazz make the playoffs and advance one round in the playoffs this year.

Been saying they are a playoff team all year.

Good thread

Gun to my head, I think this season ends up just like last season. I think we end up trading winning players directly to our playoff competition and then quit on the playoff race after the deadline.

Advance one round against the likes of Denver and MN? I like your optimism lol

also when you are winning your trade pieces look much better... like Sexton for instance. He is very much an asset and likely would have been considered a slight liability earlier in the season. Simone is another (he's the guy that might get a 1st round pick offer from a contender that might make DA move).

I think our recent success will give Ainge reason to dig in for first round type value. I think he's fine conveying the 14th or 15th pick or whatever to OKC this year instead of tanking unless he gets real value. I think both JCs are the most available but won't be shocked if KO is still on the roster.

If we win our next game against the Nuggets, we will have the same record after 39 games than we had last year. Major difference being that we started 10-3 then vs 4-11 now.

I think there are more reasons to invest in the team than to cash in on the pieces this time around. For one, I think we have proven that last year wasnt just a fluke for Lauri, Hardy or the rest of the team.

We punted on last season, I know it's not exactly the same, but I think Ainge values the tradeoff between a play in spot versus top 10 pick about the same.

We also got a pick and cap space to punt on last season... in a better draft. He may need equivalent value to do it again.
