Potential Trade Targets

I don’t the FO is heavily weighing recent games in their strategy, but it will be interesting to see how quickly this forum changes its tone if the Jazz struggle a bit on this road trip. A week ago, nobody can be traded. If we lose tonight, that’s 3 in a row and the pitchforks will be coming out lol.

Here's what I think I know for sure:

- Dlo is gone.
- I think Rozier goes to the Heat. Sending Lowry for Rozier saves them a bunch of tax this year. Hornets clear the books (likely a sweetener coming their way).
- Murray is gone
- Brown gets moved somewhere.
- Fournier's deal gets moved somewhere.

I think those might be in the "virtual certainty" for me. I think you can connect a lot of those dots together and how they link together will be how the deadline shakes out.
Which Brown are we talking about here? Catching up.

I guarantee we don't lose tonight.

Woj on the Lakers:

LA wants Bruce Brown. They tried to sign him in free agency, then called the Pacers about trading for him before he was included in the Siakam trade. They will be on the phone again with Toronto trying to acquire Brown before the deadline.

They’ve talked with the Hawks about Dejounte Murray, but Atlanta is trying to recoup the draft capital (3 FRP) they originally sent to the Spurs.

If D’Angelo Russell is part of a trade, they will likely need to attach more assets to get off his contract because of the player option.

It seems like there would at least be some buzz around one of the rumor mongers saying "i checked with Utah and they aren't really interested". This group isn't exactly tight lipped. I trust Hardy here and Murray might be a handful to deal with. Cuz like... if you are interested in Jrue why wouldn't you be interested in Murray (I know that one guy is theoretical but still).

If the price is as low as it seems... it is really hard not to swoop in here... and maybe that is the plan.

Not down payment theory I promise... but trades are hard. And some front offices struggle to work together. The fact that we have done a deal with the Hawks means we've figured it out before... so I would think the inroads there are wide open. Yet - we've heard nothing. Leads me to believe we are likely just not that interested for some reason.

Otherwise I think a JC to NY, Grimes and Fournier to Atlanta with a pick from us, and Murray to Utah seems like super doable given what the Lakers are offering.
Hardy said in the Ryen Russillo pod like a week ago that "we dont have a veteran point guard at this point". I tried super hard to read between the lines but failed. Dont know if he meant we might go after one or if he thinks Key/Dunn/Sexton will grow into one, but its definitely on the menu...

Damn Ryen for not pushing on that specific comment. Like if the HC says "we dont have X", and the interviewer doesnt even ask "any plans on addressing this?"....

Only if we are trading Lauri and have a haul lined up. Cash in on Sexton and you may as well go full process. The swap needs to be one in 29 when we can swap with like 3-4 other picks we own.
Eh, it depends on what other moves are made and how the coaching staff/FO feels about Sexton long term. There really isn't much of a scenario for trading Lauri.

Yeah, of taking on DLo can gain you assets, I'm 110% in

Got one right

More smoke from Woj today regarding Clarkson and the Knicks.

McMenamin again mentioned Sexton as a trade target for the Lakers as they have had internal discussions and believe he is a fit for what they want.

Sexton a Rich Paul player. Could help convince the Lakers to give up a lot

Sexton would be an incredible fit for the Lakers. Basically a perfect team for him.

Would require the removal of the protection on the 27 pick, JHS, and another unprotected pick. Then a pick swap to account for taking on the DLo contract

I don't think Clarkson goes to NYK based on the tone of what Woj said. Sounds like NYK is trying to bargain hunt. I bet they end up getting Brown or Burks who will be cheaper to acquire due to being an expiring contract

I don't want to trade Sexton at all but he actually would be a perfect fit on that Laker team even moreso than Dejounte tbh. They are desperate for team speed especially in their backcourt and we all know, esp in the postseason, their offense is running thru only one man and that's Lebron. Releasing the protection on that '27 pick isn't much of an incentive since it's only top 4 protected.

Yeah I think it ends up being Burks that they get for a 2nd.

Based on what I saw from Brown in the playoffs last year he's a better 2 way player than Clarkson. I bet the Raps would demand Grimes+FRP from the Knicks in any deal for him.
