Potential Trade Targets

He literally just played with only Ochai leaving due to illness.

Now Ochai, Simone, and KO are gone. He is playing.
I think a couple of our guys were assigned to the g league for that game

Brother, they could have been on the active roster getting minutes before that.

Sure.
Luka wasn't getting any though

This, the Jazz don't have a plan for developing Luka. If he gets minutes it is because there is no other option. It is possible for him to do something with that and to move forward with an NBA career, but the odds are against him unless he completely balls out like Dunn just did.

That being said, to be on an active NBA roster, even for a year or two and not playing a whole lot is an amazing life accomplishment.

Yeah, you're a moron. Will Hardy's entire thing has been no free minutes. They aren't going to just give all the minutes to rookies because guys got traded. It's not how Hardy operates. He will make it a competition and minutes will fluctuate for everyone.

Luka got free minutes last game.
Clarkson has got free minutes many times.

It's bizarre that some people are still looking at Sensabaugh and seeing an NBA player. His destiny is to go overseas.

Hendricks has a better chance but has to improve a lot to play rotation minutes for a team trying to win.
Sensabaugh is 20 years old and just starting in the NBA. No one knows at this point what his fate will be. It's "bizarre" how much negativity your find in everything. Even when you find a tiny bit a positivity in something, it's usually followed with a word "but".

I’m fine with our deadline moves, except that we still have Clarkson (who we should’ve moved already last year). I knew it would be hard to trade him, but we’ll move him in the summer (I hope). Now bring Hendricks and Sensabaugh in, give them good minutes, and see how they play.

There really is no point in talking to you if you're just saying ridiculous ****.
This is your typical response. you hate talking ball.
Show me how luka earned his minutes. Show me how clarkson did.

If I saw an NBA player in Sensabaugh, I'd say it. But I don't. He won't be able to guard or score at his position in the NBA.

I see him making money overseas, where the game moves slower and players are not as athletic. Is that positive enough for you?

Yeah, I do hate talking ball with you. I'll just refrain. I mean, this season is a near mirror of last season. You can go back and look. The Jazz played everyone after they traded the vets.

OK, let's look at the facts:

Hendricks has appeared in 13 games this season, Luka 23. In those appearances, Hendricks has played 181 minutes. Despite appearing in 10 more games, Luka has played 142.

Luka, on weak defense, has a blistering true shooting percentage of 40.8%, Hendricks is at straight 50%. Not great, BUT, 10% points is pretty definitive over someone who is supposed to be a "shooter" and brings little else.

Luka is 24 on his 4th season in the NBA is 24 years old, Hendricks, by every possible measurement the better player, just turned 20 3 months ago.

But yeah, Hardy will probably bench Hendrick's *** to play Luka big minutes.

I guess we will see how it plays out tonight.

(Well, I won't because I am freaking blacked out)

I'm a little bummed we didn't get an interesting wing type like Springer or Moody. I'm disappointed we didn't find a home for JC. Overall I think we did well and we didn't make a big eff up move.

Will give it a B+

I find it difficult to give a grade…..incomplete? I feel like teams who trade players for picks almost always get praised for it, but at some point you do actually have to try to win something. What the Jazz did is fine….but they need to move forward with Lauri quickly. I would go as far as to say they need to do it immediately (this summer). Surrounding Lauri with a bunch of rookies is just wasting his career and our window with him.

Exactly. You don't have to always earn minutes. Sometimes they are simply handed to guys. Like when guys are traded or like the other night when Ochai was out and Luka got some free minutes.

We are saying the same thing here you just enjoy arguing

Are there teams that trade players for picks and never try to win something?

OKC did that alot and they seem to be trying to win. Philly too. Houston as well.

Not sure there is a team in NBA history who has traded players for picks forever and never tried to win. I doubt we will be the first.

This is my problem with the professional talking heads and bloggers. They all look at teams from the point of view of an armchair GM – it's all business transactions and stock market analogies for them. That's fun now and then but doesn't really describe the fan experience.

I mean if you give the Jazz an A- grade for this deadline just because Ainge was able to hoard some more picks, you're missing something and are probably not watching Jazz games anyway.
