2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Would it be wild for me to have Sheppard at #1 on my big board?
Yeah, its wild. Not that you have no chance of being right, but he's a 6'2 guard who might have a neutral or negative wingspan.

I would love to take him. It would just be such an obvious "Sexton is not going to be here" long term draft pick that you would basically have to move Sexton ASAP to maximize his value.

It might be.

Is there a good comp for Reed? I'm struggling to come up with one. He's really unique in my mind, which could mean he's going to be special in the NBA. Or it could mean what he is doing won't work in the NBA.
I thought a lot about it. The closest comp I have is Lebron James but with better shooting.

Yeah that's wild. I wouldn't be shocked if he went like top 7 but Vecenie had him pretty high in his initial mock or big board and NBA teams seemed to throw cold water on it and his range was closer to back end of the lotto.

I'd guess he ends up 8-12.

I don't think its too hard to see what he could be. I have said before he could be like TJ McConnell but with a laser for a jumper. That'd be a pretty great.

He plays really within himself a lot. Is that the Kentucky guard thing and there is more? Or is he limited? I don't really have questions on if he "works" I have questions on how well it works of course. I'd be shocked if he wasn't like a plus Tyus Jones level of point guard.

Ehh, could easily be top 8. So many teams in the lotto need a PG like Reed. Having a "star" game like that is huge for his stock. If he has a few more he's going to be a top 5 pick.

Detroit could use him, Washington could use him, Charlotte could use him, San Antonio could use him, Houston could use him, Memphis could use him. He fills a need for most teams and most of these bad teams are actually pretty big so they can swallow having an undersized guard.

Only team that I see as not having room for him would be Portland because they have so much ties into young guards they see as high upside.fb

TJ McConnell/Tyus arent high level athletes like Reed... That comp is bad imo.

At some point we have to call Reed an elite athlete for the stocks he puts up despite having terrible physical length tools.

He's basically Desmond Bane at this point because the only thing holding him back from being a consensus higher pick among every team is the length of his arms.

TJ McConnell gets a ton of steals as well. Which is why I mentioned him. Tyus wasn't so much of a comp as a level of player as his floor. And I did say plus version. Like I'd be shocked if he wasn't at least like the best backup pg in the league type of player. I could see him reaching a Desmond Bane level as a player but they are different player types.

I'd bet on him as he has so many markers of a guy that might be underrated and he's a Kentucky guard.

If we were #9 and passed on Reed because of Keyonte... I'd likely be pissed. Unless we got some wing prospect I liked.

Reed does have like serious John Stockton vibes. I want to ask him what his stance is on vaccines and see if the comp is valid.

Is there any other prospect in recent history who has put up the type of production Reed has with a similar physical profile, as a Freshman for a school in a major conference?

If you look at production/age/circumstance, then he should be in the top 5 pick conversation. If you look at physical profile (height/wingspan) then he's probably a late first round pick. It feels super unique, but maybe I'm forgetting someone.

There are also going to be opportunities to move up in this draft. If you want to get in the top 5 I think its possible. May not be dirt cheap but it will be reasonable. This "bad" draft may provide some real opportunities.

I'm not seeing anyone in this draft worth trading up for. Is there somebody specific you think would go higher than top 8 that you think would be worth it?

I haven't looked at the guys really hard so I'm not the right person to ask. DA may see something though. I'd likely target Risacher or Williams cuz we need wings and wing prospects.

I'm just saying normally the price is normally excessive. In this draft it might be fair.
