2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I hear ya....I definitely think Matas looks more skilled/fluid with the ball, but in the same way that we kinda overlooked Leonard Miller (I guess it's still tbd on that), I wonder if we should respect that level of production. GLeague ignite was also getting stomped all year, so I would expect all their numbers to be pretty bad.
I loved Leonard Miller doe. Its a good thing I ain't GM cuz Miller was coming off the board at 16. I haven't watched enough of Smith but he seems like the bad kind of tweener... Miller seems like the good kind of tweener but his block numbers are a bit troubling for what I had hoped for him. I think Smith is a good bet in the teens/20s though. He also has a boring name and game. If we got him with a pick in the 20s or 30s that's absolutely a win.

If his name was Smith Tyler in stead of Tyler Smith, he'd be 5 places higher on consensus draft boards.

Let’s not overthink these Kentucky guards. They’re both going to be good in the league. It’s proven at this point.
Our luck we end up picking the one that didn't work. We'd think we getting Booker and get Marquis Teague.

I think both will be good. Rob I am more worried about and think he will have to be phenomenal as a ball in hand guy to be a starter.

It just feels like the name of the second tight end that plays at BYU. Not the one that gets the ball... the one that comes in on running plays as an extra lineman.

Also the only guy that can stop a talented Kentucky guard is Coach Cal (Zinggggggggg!)

Who you taking in this scenario at 8?

1. Sarr
2. Risacher
3. Sheppard
4. Topic
5. Dillingham
6. Castle
7. Clingan

Think I go between Holland and Knecht depending on offense or defense priority. Admittedly, looking at it like this, it certainly does look like a really bad draft.

Williams in a heartbeat. Actually, if the Jazz are able to choose between Buzelis and Williams then they're in a really good spot.

Holland, Buzelis and Knecht are the guys... If Holland or Buzelis shoot it I think they could have pretty big upside.

Buzelis should be able to do everything. Not necessarily at a high level, but he'll check the boxes. He has an ability to process and make decisions at NBA speed that's quite frankly better than most of the Jazz's guys. I can see his appeal as a connector and glue guy for a team with a bunch of guys who mostly want to shoot. He's this year's "canned soup." It's disappointing that his shooting hasn't improved much during the season.

Knecht, Collier, Williams, or Edey

Not high on Williams?
I keep forgetting he exists... which if you watched him at CO its easy to do. I like him too... would put him in that group. I liked him more early in the process when I thought maybe he was more like his brother. Jalen is Jrue Holiday.... Cody is Justin.

Any of those wings are solid bets. Prospects and development is so hit or miss... just make good bets and I will live with the misses.

Jazz have a lot of guys who want to shoot the ball. Lauri, Taylor and Walker more or less stand around waiting for someone to set them up. Keyonte likes to finish plays too. Regardless of position, the Jazz need on-ball creation as much or more than any team in the league right now, especially if Sexton is viewed as a bench piece or trade piece.

So ask, who in this draft is most likely to make the defense collapse or stretch? Who is most likely to beat his defender consistently and make a play? To me, Topic stands out by a mile.

At the same time, the Jazz don't have much scoring in isolation, which is sometimes what the playoffs boil down to. So can the guy we're looking for also be an iso-scoring threat as well? Add in this factor, and Cody Williams stands out for me.
