2017 Pre-Draft Workouts

I don't follow college basketball but just looked him up when I saw he was local. I was surprised to see he put up some pretty good numbers for a sophomore. Also surprised not much buzz surrounding him.

He is a Mormon sophomore though.

Are Mormons allowed to ball/train on missions?

They can play. They won't be doing any intense training. If they lived close to the church they could do it for a half hour or so during the exercise time in the morning. Realistically you may be able to play a couple hours once a week. He was in Italy though.

Not really. Would be nearly impossible to get in any real meaningful bball time or training.

I had a hard time finding enough people at my level to play good basketball in the states... P-Day ball is brutal. Could do some exercise but it would be just not getting fat... not building strength.

I remember when I first entered the Provo Missionary Training Center and played basketball the first time, a kid grabbed a rebound and proceeded to stand half-way out of bounds on the baseline and dribbling with both hands. I was somewhat appalled that people were still playing defense on that and letting it play live.

It was almost always one on one with other guys standing around... We had a massive challenge from the APs when I first got in the field because they were popping off, but that required some serious rule breaking and travel to arrange a fierce game of three on three.

I had one companion who preferred to "skip" rope. Basically any pickup game at a gym is 10x better than P-Day ball.
