What's new

2018-2019 NFL Season

I'm talking about the principle of not allowing the other team to respond, not talking about your Pats winning this game in particular.

The defense has ample opportunity to respond and didn’t. LA’s defense did though when they picked off Brees.

Brady’s amazing. Hope he wins it again and he doesn’t retire. I want to see how long he can keep this magic going.

Gosh. Chiefs defense was hard to watch. That was a horrible performance. Couldnt touch Brady. Thoroughly dominated.

Plus that dumb penalty on Ford. Chiefs should have won that.
Lol. The one time they did touch him it cost them 15 yards and possibly the game and chance to play in the Super Bowl.

But they only have themselves to blame. Just heard on ESPN that the only negative gain the pats. had on offense was their end of game kneel down. That’s just how soft KC’s defense won. They deserved to lose.
I just don't understand why, if the team that won the toss scores a TD, the game is over? Why can't the other team get that same chance? How is that fair?

Any NFL experts around here wanna shed some light on this? @Wes Mantooth ? @bigb ? @RJF ? @Thee jazz fan ? @Stoked ?

Defense is part of the game. LA did it’s job, they are in the Super Bowl, KC didn’t, they’ll be watching the Super Bowl with the rest of the world.

But your opponent's defense might be just as bad, it just so happens they get the ball first and never needed to defend.

It's like in a boxing match, I get to hit you first without you hitting me back for 1 round, let's see who'll win the fight.
No, idiot!! It’s like me throwing the first punch and you are out like a light and laying on your ***, you could’ve dodged or blocked but didn’t. That’s what happened in OT
The coin put them all the way down the field and into the end zone to end the game?

That’s one magic coin. Lol

As a 49er fan I haven’t been willing to admit it, but after last night, I can’t deny he’s the best QB of all time, but not best players that still belongs to the goat, Jerry Rice. Haha.

**** the pats.

Having said that, is there even an argument for anyone but Brady being the best QB of all time. I mean the separation between him and the other greats is about as wide as it is between the other greats and Paxton Lynch at this point.

Yes, there’s an argument. He’s been the beneficiary of a joke of a division for almost his entire career. And Montana had far stiffer competition in the Bears, Giants and Skins in certain years than Brady has had to get the Super Bowl.

Having said that, 9x is 9x. And he never had a Rice (Moss for one stud year) nor the luxury of no salary cap.

Your defense can’t get a stop you lose the game.

Let me ask you this. Does the team that wins the toss ever choose to go on defense first?

I think we so know that the answer is no. So if every team chooses to get the ball every time then there must be some kind of advantage to getting the ball first. Why should one team start with an advantage over the other team in overtime based off a coin?

No, but if they made the necessary plays in regulation it wouldn’t matter.

Good point about the Rams picking off Brees.
I think an even better strategy would be for the defense to just get an interception every time the offense has the ball throughout the whole game. They should just do that in every game and then they would probably win the Superbowl every year

Actually every team should just get an interception on every possession in every game. Of course that would make for a lot of 0-0 games and would be kinda boring.

But It did matter. A coin shouldn't matter.
So you agree that it's advantageous to win the coin toss?

Ya, they should have just held the patriots to zero points in regulation. I agree. That was stupid of them to let the patriots score. I wonder why they went with the let the patriots score strategy instead of the don't let the Patriots score strategy. Strange coaching.
If I were coaching I would just hold the other team scoreless and win every game. Seems like a better gameplan to me.

Luckily the patriots didn't need to make the necessary plays in regulation because they got some help from a coin.
