2023 Mock Draft - Take 1

Yeah....I think you need more juice in that backcourt although I'm starting to think we can start anyone at PG and we'll be ok haha.

I don't necessarily think you need to try to build the perfect team and fill every whole with this draft, but I do think we should try to add someone with some pop. That's why I don't mind taking George/JHS/Smith. Chances are they turn into a worse version of JC, but it's not totally unrealistic that they become a high volume scorer.
Yeah and I get that... just feels like we could add guys like that pretty easily so maybe a swing on a wing or two isn't a bad idea. I think Wallace is big enough to play with another pg if you found one that is a better playmaker.

If the draft board fell like it did I'd probably just take a swing on Sidy... even though its a reach. I'd trade back maybe package 12 and 28 for the two middle Brooklyn picks if I could get Sidy and someone else I liked better. I doubt Whitehead falls as far as he did in this mock.

I'm shocked @Saint Cy of JFC passed on him multiple times after telling me he is a lotto prospect but at least you are true to your draft board. Also something poetic about the Hornets going from Cody Zeller to Mason Plumlee to Flip (I'm kidding but the joke was too obvious for me to ignore).
Just tried to think like the teams drafting. I was drafting for two win now teams. Think this draft is kind of flat after a certain point so we will see a lot of teams taking need into account.

Nah... you just really don't believe in him like you stated... he'd be way lower on your real draft board. Its fine. When I suggested Jazz it was nah... and you had two other teams pass on him here... there is a reason they passed even if the draft is flat. He's a tweener with limited upside and is more of a late first early second guy... just like I stated.

I've never seen someone so pressed about a prospect

This was fun, but once a week seems extreme. Obviously if you have enough people that want to do that, then go ahead.
At this point in the season I live here, so not an issue for me. I also probably won’t be the one running it, so whatever works for everyone.

We will see what his official measurements are, but I think he is closer to 6'5 than 6'7
Sidy and Bilal both look bigger longer than their measurements... Whitehead looks smaller. Think Hollinger mentioned he thinks Whitehead comes in at 6'6". I think he is still a SF as he has some thiccness.

Ahh, I was drafting with near no knowledge just measurables and some stats.. Would definitely do it differently if I had another chance.
Hes listed at 6'7 220 and the general thought is that he has been held back athletically due to an injury, so he could possibly play much bigger at the NBA level, but currently he reminds me of KCP. It's a good pick but I would have liked a forward somewhere in the mix.

He doesn't even look that thick to me though. My eye test says 6'5.5 in shoes at 208. Maybe he has a huge *** dumpy that I cant see.

Yea, I think Sensabaugh Murray or Miller instead of JHS was the move.

Not pressed at all... I said I didn't like him and a few dudes freaked out... then it turns out one dude ain't even like him.
You said you wouldn’t even take him in the first round at all. That was appalling to me. That’s it. He’s likely in the 16-25 range.

Dick isn't a bad player, I just see him in the teens as a pick.
He has the baseline tools, just lacks the NBA body and athletic skill, to help us much for awhile. He needs to model his game after Franz down in Orlando imo. He just does not have that mobility.
He struggled against any kind of special attention, and should have overcome it fairly easy if he was lottery pick level, especially with his head height and shooting stroke. He basically failed to do that when it mattered most.
I like him as a long term project that has a very high ceiling if he goes to the right situation, but unfortunate for him is right now he is a pretty low floor shooting specialist that needs better options in front of him to get him open.
We need 1 or hopefully 2 picked in the lottery that can get their own shot and make their own shot, while also being + defenders and able to make others better . Anything short of all those traits and I am trading back or trying to use the picks to get a vet instead.
Dick is an early 20's upside prospect at this juncture for me, even if someone reaches on his potential
