The problem is that we don't really know what an alternative universe would look like and what other opportunities we might have had had we gone full tank for example. Maybe we get even more/better picks for Conley, Ochai, Bogdanovic/KO, NAW, etc. or maybe not. The reports at the time(if I'm not mistaken) were that we could have had that Lakers pick if we wanted it in October... we just wanted more... and we didn't get it. Similar with other trades.

Why? What's your objection? You only want to present one side of the argument and one set of incoming assets as if if we didn't do this and exactly this, we couldn't get anything close in value. This is a bunch of nonsense. Those players had value whether in July or in February. Why are you acting like if we traded them in July we would have only gotten what? A bunch of expirings/trade exceptions?

Huh? I think it is pretty clear that we could have gotten at least similar value if we had made those same trades prior to both seasons rather than at mid-season. The big difference being that if we make the trades prior to the season we are probably looking at our own draft pick being closer to 5 than 10 the last few seasons.
No it doesn't look ridiculous. And I don't want to relitigate anything. This team has had no plan the last 2 years. Your GM(or whatever his official role is) told you that. We've been floaitng around the last 2 years. This doesn't mean every decision along the way is bad(for example, I obviously like a lot of those draft picks). But huge majority of those picks(or similar value had we done earlier deals) were there to be had pretty much no matter what we did. Right now this rebuild is being carried by those 2 initial deals. And lets not act like those prospects we have are even a sure thing. Yes some of them look promising... others haven't played a minute in the league yet. In 2 years all of those might look like complete busts... I seriously have no idea based on what exactly are you taking victory laps?

No you don't get it. If we tank all our players dissolve into thin air and you can't get anything for them. It's either LAL pick, Filipowski and Collier or NOTHING! Yes. You get nothing for Conley, Bogdanovic/KO, Ochai, Beasley, Vanderbilt, NAW... the 2 second round picks... those just disappear...
