2024 NBA Free Agency Thread

Nah - I think the Jazz went for him hard and lost to NY. It explains the overpay.
They went hard enough to make it feel real for New York to push in. Also Utah wasn't the only other team out there trying for Bridges. I'm sure Houston pushes them harder than the Jazz did

4/60 for Toppin huh. We may never see Jarace Walker

I think both JC’s are mostly the same story. In a specific situation, it could happen. But reality is we’re either paying to get rid of them or waiting two years.

Collins costs double, but can actually be seen as a good player. Clarkson was one of the worst players in the entire league last year and is old.
Clarkson is probably a lost cause but I could see Collins building legit value by mid-season. He was very good the second half of the season and I expect him to be just as good or maybe better the first half of this year since he will be comfortable from the get go. That level of play makes his contract pretty solid since at that point you are only looking at a year and a half or he may even opt out if he is playing really well and take his chance in free agency.

I agree. He was really good the second half of the season….unfortunately that awful first half still counts, so he’ll need a bit of time to prove out the player he is.

Even now, I could see some team taking him in because he can be a useful (albeit overpaid) player if they don’t have other options.

Clarkson definitely isn't a lost cause. Players of his ilk can have outlier bad seasons randomly and return the next year back to form. Get him back in a role that makes sense and he could have a career year. He's gotten undeniably better under Hardy, I think he just needs his overall load dialed back a bit
