2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

So the league handpicked Chet to go the Thunder so the Thunder and their basically nonexistent fanbase could win multiple titles?

The league has currently rigged a Pacers-Thunder Finals? Arguably the two smallest markets in the NBA other than Orlando (who just won the #1 pick) and Denver (who just won the title)?
No one said they rigged the finals. But have a hand in the lottery to try to stack the right teams at the right time? Yep. Dallas @ #1. Spur then Sixers, all against the steepest odds? Yep.

That's a hard sell to just move up 2 spots to take on PG's contract.

Would have to include some kind of future pick.
The have the Clippers pick. I think Philly will trade back but it will be more like 3 for 5 and 21 or 3 for 6 and 18 type of deal.

Philly is either going to rebuild in like 12-24 months or still be in the thick of playoffs depending on Embiid's health. I think they need clarity before they try and pay what they need to to get off of PG's deal.

I don't think they can really go backwards. If they rebuild, it will be more like reshuffling the chairs around Maxey. Their pick is only top 4 protected for the next two seasons. Just not worth it to tank when you lose your pick >50% of the time.

I could see them going the Lauri route or the Sexton+Collins route. Both are valid with or without good Embiid health IMO.

Ok a little late to the party so dont want to sift through 15 pages of stuff so here are some of my trade ideas

First is 2 options for Collins sexton both to Orlando (Feel they are the best fit)

1st Sexton for Anthony and Howard

Not a huge fan of a 2 for 1 trade, but the Jazz do not have another salary that would make it feasible.

2nd is Sexton and Clarkson for Isaac and Anthony

I wasn't specific enough. I think the pick goes to OKC this year but this year is the year of discovery. If Embiid is healthy maybe they send some assets with their future picks to make something happen. If he is unhealthy and PG's value hasn't recovered... they may retool around Maxey, McCain and #3 pick... in which case they keep their future assets to help with the rebuild.

If it was just 3/Pg for 5/Lauri they do that all day... If it involves other meaningful assets (which it 1000% should) then I think they will be hesitant to do anything.

At very least I would want the 2028 Clips pick with 3 and PG for Lauri and 5. Ainge would likely want even more than that. I don't see them doing that while in limbo.

Zach Lowe said we're interested in Trae View attachment 18773
That is not what he said. He said he heard rumblings at the combine that Trae to Utah might be a thing but he thinks its bogus and doesn’t see us doing that.

Essentially the theory was out there because teams are wondering when we’re going to start adding high end talent to pair with Lauri.

Taking on PG’s contract (and us throwing in sweeteners) is to get the 3rd pick outright, not a trade up from 5. Eating PG’s dead money to move up two spots to maybe draft the same guy you might get at 5 is utter brain-dead bull ****.

Here's some trade ideas. I'd love people's feedback on these Jazz/Rockets trade ideas. I guess to me one of the big problems is that if they're going to make a run at Giannis, Jabari Smith & Reed Shepherd would likely be part of those deals. However, they would be getting at least 1 extra pick from the Jazz here for that and would still have one of those guys to offer.

I don't understand why the Jazz do any of those. Why would we want to give picks for pretty mid players at best. 2 Picks + Brice for Reed Sheppard? No.

Okay I can see that. Reed shepperd could be a real asset & the #21 pick this year likely won’t even be that valuable.

The Jazz need to shed John collins though. Having him serves no point. He’s in an expiring contract and him playing will only stunt the growth of Filipowski & Hendricks. Plus the Jazz want to be bottom 8 to keep their pick in 2026 & not have to convey to OKC, so it makes sense to dump Collins.

The sheppard trade looks like a buy high on reed's potential as he didn't show much this year. Sexton, Brice, and 2 firsts is a crazy high price to pay.

Jabari Smith Jr. for Collins is interesting but again giving up a first doesn't feel great. Collins and Sexton have some real value as good players and Jabari Smith Jr. seems like a disappointment, the rockets don't seem all that excited to play him.

The last trade is another sheppard trade, collins + sexton + 1st for sheppard + brooks + jock + nate williams. I assume this is just another way to get sheppard. Don't have any strong feelings on the other rockets pieces.

Does sheppard warrant these kinds of prices? I'm of the mind to say no. Even if your still high on sheppard, the trades here are just too much.

We give 2 1sts, Sexton and Sensi for Reed freakin' Sheppard? That's gotta be one of the worst deals I've ever seen. The other two are almost as bad.

No smoke around it, but I think a Key trade makes a lot of sense for a lot of teams. Could make a lot of sense for the Jazz as well after the draft.
