2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

I'm wondering... maybe it was the Jazz that didn't want to make a movie yesterday because they thought they have enough picks in this draft... and if they are not trading for picks in this draft, there is no hurry to trade on draft day. It's possible we wait to see the dust settle and target the teams that didn't address their needs in the draft to make deals for future picks. 2026 seems like a draft we would want to have some extra assets in now. And as of right now we only have that one superswap pick. We don't even have our second. We might want to have some extra bullets... be it to target players we like or to be in better position to trade up for one of the top players in the draft.
Still wouldn’t be opposed to talking to San Antonio about Lauri, but it would take everything they have in 2026 (as a starting point) to make me interested.

Jazz should also have a conversation with Atlanta and that NO pick as well. Lauri could be a sneaky good fit for them.

How good is this team as presently constructed, but going for it? Will we be able to land in top 8 picks next year? We prob need to be like bottom 3 in case drop 5 picks again.

The team is extremely bad, no one on the team other than Collier and Filipowski can pass and no one on the roster other than Kessler and Hendricks can defend. The team has four true wings (Ace, Brice, Juzang, and Cody), none of whom are ready to help teams win now (if ever for some of them). They have one PG and C but manage to have four PFs that need minutes (Markkanen, Collins, Filipowski, and Hendricks) and four gunner guards somehow that also need minutes (Sexton, Clayton, Clarkson, Keyonte). I would assume tons of trades before the season to dump Sexton and Collins etc for little, but as is constructed, this is a 28 win team.

Trading Collins, Sexton and Clarkson for Damian Lillard and two pick swaps (30 & 31) is essentially the deal the Jazz should’ve made for Westbrook in 22/23.

Then figure out a quality trade for Lauri. Come back with. . .

Collier - Clayton - Lillard (INJ)
Williams - George - Juzang - Prodica
Bailey - Sensabaugh - Mykhailiuk
Hendricks - ??? - Martin
Kessler - Filipowski - Tshiebwa

I’m pretty confident that team keeps their top 8 pick next year.
I don’t want to trade Lauri but I want Dame even more after last night

Okay. Let’s say they keep Lauri, but go get Dame.

Collier - Clayton - Lillard (INJ)
Williams - George - Juzang - Procida?
Bailey - Sensabaugh - Mykhailiuk
Markkanen - Hendricks - Martin
Kessler - Filipowski - Tshiebwa

Is that team too good to properly tank?

For starters Juzang and Svi are both non-guaranteed contracts. They would make great trade pieces or just cut them. I am all in on developing playing that should be on the roster in the future. I know this will get a thumbs down from Cy but Juzang is not worth keep on the roster. He is a good shooter but his defense sucks. JAZZ NEED MORE DEFENSE.

With their contracts, unless I have a better alternative, I’m keeping them and looking to consolidate them into other trades later - same with KJ Martin. No harm in keeping all three guys around until they’re forced to move on.

My big questions right now are:

1.) What does Kessler’s extension look like?
2.) What kind of value does Markkanen actually have right now?
3.) Can the Jazz find a positive deal for Collins, Sexton and Clarkson?
4.) What do they do with Procida’s rights?

I still want to talk to Houston about their players. I have an healthy fascination for Reed Sheppard. I wpuld love to get Jabari Smith now that they have Durant.

I think Sextons shooting would be super valuable for them. Lauri wod make a huge front like with Durant, Lauri, and Sengun.

I like Orlando too but not sure what they have left.

Gotta think that Lauri Markkanen is still quietly on the trade block and could become a top target for teams who missed out on other trades leading up to the draft.

What teams make the most sense as trade partners? And which teams actually still have assets the Jazz should want?

Warriors? Spurs? 76ers? Pistons?

Will definitely see some movement either tonight or later in off season to unload some of our vets to clear the path for Ace/WCJ/Filip, etc.

I think without manipulation, this years team could have won 10 more games. True suckage was around 27 wins. Does

(Ace Bailey + Walter Clayton Jr.) - (Collin + JC * 2) = -10 wins?

I also think it’s going to be an especially competitive tank year so we really have to suck.

that's the team I want to watch and see them compete. I think they're still probably bad enough to keep the top 8 pick.

They have to commit to it right from the very beginning of the season. If they try to patty-cake their way into keeping their pick mid-season, they’ll fail. It’s one of the reasons I like the Lillard trade. They can let him fully and completely heal, while clearing Collins, Sexton and Clarkson from the kids pathway.

What teams out West are tanking? The answer is just us as of right now. The tank has received several nice boosts. Weak east has everyone feeling like they can take a shot. NO doesn't have a pick, Porty just traded for Jrue, Bucks didn't tear down... tank race has Washington (have CJ, Smart, Middleton, KO right now), Charlotte, and there will be a surprise injury team like Sacramento.

I also don't believe we won't pull the plug if things get close. GMs be lying.

Should we call NOP about Lauri? I mean we should probably call them about everyone. They dumb.
Just call em. They traded for Jordan Poole and gave up an unprotected pick... Sexton and Collins might be worth some swaps... i mean they are just swaps nbd.

I know they love Fears and Queen...but how can you expect to make the playoffs with two rookies playing big minutes? I'd see if they're interested in something Sexton/Collins. Want to fleece them for picks and/or get Herb out of this.
