I could see the Jazz moving off of Brice. He has value as a shooter, but his lack of defense and ball movement doesn't make him compelling. Someone will want him more than the Jazz do down the line, imo.

Keyonte just said in an interview that Nurk's been essential in enabling him to make his offensive leap. The screening and passing have been elite. This stuff matters.

I'm more sure than ever that tankers simply do not like basketball. I'm not sure what they do like, but it probably has something to do with a feeling of superiority and a desire to control what is essentially a chaotic environment.

Ever hear the term break it down to build it up better how else are the Jazz supposed to get a championship team? Stars don’t come here. You have to build through the draft. Sometimes you have to take. That’s the only way the Jazz get stars is through the draft. Free agents aren’t coming here and we had all these draft picks and couldn’t trade for a star. I really like the idea of a Lauri for Paolo trade, but the Magic's salary structure makes it impossible.

I liked it for a second but then soured on it. I'm not sure if he he's a good fit with Key and I think by next year we will see Ace begin to emerge as more of a ball dominant wing that after a season of being learning and not trying to force things.

I mean, the things are

1. Paolo makes us much worse this year which is good
2. Paolo has more upside than Lauri
3. After this year, we have a three year window to win with Lauri before he's probably unplayable in the postseason along with being a free agent. How fast can we turn this around and win in the next three years? Uhhhh, we've been last in defense three years in a row and have a ton of weird fits so I'm not sure how quickly the switch can be flipped.

But the Magic can't do this without gutting their roster as Lauri makes too much money and Paolo too little so it won't happen.

I disagree. Playing Svi the big minutes we have is what makes 0 sense.

We need that draft pick this offseason. Developing him does nothing for us. Give his minutes to Cody Williams, Brice Sensabaugh, & Walt Clayton.

There’s a lot of trades I’d like to see the Jazz make, if it weren’t for the one caveat of the importance of cap space and how much the Jazz have for this upcoming offseason.

That one fact throws a wrinkle into every single deal I’d find interesting and ultimately why I think the Jazz wont do anything interesting.

Keeping the pick this year makes it WAYYY easier to swing a win-now deal in the offseason (and holding onto anything for the future, which will be necessary to keep the potential contention-window open).

It's a weird league situation right now where two teams desperately need to make a trade (Lakers and Cavs) but there are no trade options available. Everyone else is too young to make big moves or has no ammo left.

Like, the Pistons are not going to go all-in right now when all of their guys are 23 and they would still lose to OKC no matter what.

Raptors are probably the most interesting team to watch here...

I would be shocked if Lauri doesn't age extremely well into his mid 30's.

Brice for Missi makes a lot of sense. NOLA is by far one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the league. Bottom 3 in both 3pt made and 3pt%. Brice can help space the floor for Zion & Queen. Missi is a reliable center who struggled to see the floor as NOLA clearly shifted away from him to build around Queen. He could be a walking double double when given the opportunity and provide some much needed rim protection and insurance in case we do end up losing Kess.

If ATL pulls this off, they are a perfect Kessler destination. ATL is home for Kessler, and Quin knows how to use a drop big.

I do think ATL would have to work with us. They are a bit frugal, so I don't see them going so hard that we don't match.

I think they go fairly high and of course they’ll make it as unappetizing as possible. I still think the Jazz match, but the idea of us squeezing him would be hard to believe with LAL, WAS, CHI, and ATL all having cap space.

The Jazz better make use of the extra cap space they got because the waiting game doesn’t look like it’s going to result in a cheaper contract. Walker will get paid.
