Belinelli best UFA available at SG position?

Well if he was amnestied by Detroit and Utah won the bid would he really have a choice? See Billups and the Clippers. I am unclear on how he was released though.

Pretty sure we're not eligible to bid on amnesty players. We're over the cap. Only teams under the cap can bid.

They just old-fashioned waived him. Reportedly Detroit saves $11 million on the deal and they'd still keep their amnesty in case they wanted to use it on the biggest piece of crap on their team (Ben Gordon).

Wouldn't they use it on Charlie Villanova?

I've always like Belinelli, although he is fairly similar to Hayward. Not just a shooter. Can create and distribute too.

I don't think Belinelli's similar to Hayward at all. Hayward's much more versatile while Belinelli is mainly just a spotup shooter. Has a pretty good handle but he doesn't put it on the floor like Hayward does/can, doesn't attack the basket, doesn't create opportunities for his teammates and doesn't rebound at a high rate. Deadeye shooter but again that's about all he brings to the table, and as you mentioned he's also a subpar defender.

I remember Korver... He hurt us just as much as he helped. For every 3 pointer he hit, there were at least 3 fouls, 2 dunks, and 5 wide open shots he'd give up. Not to mention how defenders had no fear of him ever driving or posting up.

I probably would have gone after him. I understand he's a lot more athletic than Korver. In a small role he could have probably helped us. But at the same time, I'm not too disappointed that we didn't get him.
