Can't Afford Sexual Reassignment?

I'm sure that his fellow prisoners will appreciate this. From their point of view I'm sure it's not ideal, but it beats the alternative.

I've heard he/she's confined to a cell 24 hours a day. They're trying to break him to build a case against Julian Assange.

Fantastic.
Let his family send him wigs and give him the prison garb they would assign to female prisoners.
Done.

Just sell out your country and get sent to prison.

Taxpayers are covering this ********?

Really, how much ignorance can you wallow in?

1. Manning is a hero
2. Manning made no profit on the videos, so he didn't "sell out" anyone
3. Manning has been suffering in ways you can only imagine, in no small part because the military is not exactly kind to transsexuals, and even though Manning wasn't open about it, he would have heard the jokes and comments.
4. There is a huge difference between hormone therapy and SRS.
5. Your body expressing the wrong gender is every bit as much a medical issue as having poor eyesight or a wheat allergy.

I thought conservatives, like myself, were supposed to like these types of guys? Guys that expose the secrets of the big government. So what am I supposed to believe? Snowden is a hero but this guy is a traitor? Or is this guy a hero and Snowden is a traitor? Somebody tell me the difference between the 2.

I haven't been interested in either of the cases, but my POV about whistle blower is that there should be some form of security if you don't want to play along when ordered to overstep boundaries like international laws, like inviolability of human dignity.

I am not going make a definitive statement pro or con on this issue without further information and I honestly don't care enough about the topic to research it. However, I only remember hearing comments like this on the board by Katie. Is one of you an alt of the other?

No, I'm a straight, cisgendered male. I've been around this board for some 15 years (minus an occasional hiatus), and never used a handle besides One Brow. You might be surprised to find out that a board mostly populated by white, cisgendered, straight men, most of whom seem to have conservative political leanings, is not the most welcoming place for a transgendered person to visit/post.

There was a small population of posters on the board that were always supportive of transgendered persons. Too small.

All this government secrecy doesn't seem like a way for the government to protect it's citizens from harm, but to protect itself from the scrutiny of it's citizens.

Manning is a hero.

I'm not qualified to speak to the transgender issues.

If he was really serious about it, he should have done it before he decided to get thrown in prison. Now he needs to wait 35 years and then go ahead and get it done. If he wants his family or friends or donations to pay for it, then hell yes, let him do it tomorrow. This should not be paid by the tax payer, imo.

Maybe I'm ignorant of the facts, and I fully support LGBT causes, but this doesn't seem right.
