Thanks. . . . I did have a wondering if that might be the case. What if it were open and someone did a kingside castle?

Kingside is 0-0. Queenside is 0-0-0.

It's an odd format too. Interested to see how you normally play.

For a while I tried putting the pieces up on my chessboard but that wasn't always possible so I just ended up using the diagram in the games. It is a bit strange playing black from white's perspective the whole game.

Thanks.

All my life I've had this idiot/savant phenomenon going on, starting out anything new in severe disorientation mode and having to upgrade on the steep learning curve. . . .

being able to laugh is for me the equivalent of sheer genius.

yah and it makes for some strange moves sometimes, too.

Didn't think of it that way, but now that I have that might make you a better player.

Back in the day before I drank and was a bawse playing online poker I sometimes put up a sticky note over my cards and played completely in the dark solely for the different perspective it brought. Chess and poker are different games but being able to see both perspectives is pretty much the same.

True. Bobby Fischer was known for playing games against himself in study from differing perspectives, including reversing the board entirely and from the sides instead of exclusively from black or white perspective. But he was also known for being able to accurately produce a board setup from just reviewing more than 25 moves of simple algebraic notation. I remember reading an article about him in which the author related a story about a time when Bobby was engrossed in a book or conversation or something and at the same time played a game against another player in his chess club never once looking at the board and he still called the mate in like 6 or 8 moves at the end. I guess I don't see the board the way he did.
