Chess Match Thread

I had no choice here.

I think this could still be fun.

I am in California again. This is getting to to be regular travel for me. Wife and kids with me, wife driving.

We're going to swim tonight, and have a good supper, and our motel room tonight is paid on a frequent customer benefit.

I did win big against my phone app chess opponent, so I'm going to take this loss pretty good.

Since my queen is almost destined to be developed somewhere on the second rank, I'm not sure your Qb6 offers any real threat, anyhow.

Yep, it would have been an empty threat, more of a blitz move, a hoping your opponent makes a mistake type move. Here I’m exchanging a pawn and looking for a way to free up my position a little. White still has a space and development advantage, so I think black has to look for a way to equalize.

Heading home, wife driving. We can finish this about as fast as you please.

Without my chessboard equivalent for projecting your moves, because I did all that before and I remember it all.

I don't know if there is a book recapture or what it would be, but I preferred my responses to a potential Bg4 by you with my knight having made this capture, so I'm trying it out.

I think either recapture is good. On exd4 I was looking at Bg4 but I thought you were fine, just a different type game, still more of a King’s Indian. Now with Nxd4 we’re getting really close to transposing into an e4 game with the Sicilian dragon variation, i.e., if your pawn gets to e4 and your bishop was on e3 we would be in the Sicilian.

Here I’m playing Qa5, pretending to get active on the queenside, but really hitting your pesky g5 bishop.

I think the choice is either d7 or g4 for my bishop. I’ll try g4 first and go back if necessary.

This is why I took with the knight on move 9.
