Watching a program on NBA channel called Wilt 100 chronicling Wilt's 100 pt game and other Wilt stories.

Here's a crazy stat:

In 1961-62 Wilt played every minute of every game(80 games) except for 8 minutes of one game because he got thrown out. That's 48 minutes/game. Oh by the way, he averaged 50 PTS and 25 REB that season.

Players have gotten much wussier.

Now 37 minutes per game is often considered too many even for guys under 25 years old..... And these guys have it way better with travel, accommodations, diets, trainers, massages, and a bunch of other advantages.

Seems like guys today should be able to handle more minutes per game than guys from the past

Or he just played against really bad players and didnt have to exert much effort on the court.

The footage showed guys trying to battle him tough. The game was still tough back then. According to the interviews the other players were blown away.

Maybe, I do know pace of play was ridiculous back then, but I think that was mostly everyone just shot the ball right away.

You also have to account for the fact that there were only 9 teams that season. He had to play the same dudes a bunch. He played 12 games during the regular season against Bill Russel's Celtics.

The Jazz's own Adrian Dantley shares the record with Wilt Chamberlain for most free throws made in a regular-season NBA game with 28 for the Utah Jazz against the Houston Rockets on 5 January 1984. Chamberlain achieved his 28 free throws from 32 attempts whereas Adrian Dantley achieved his record from 29 attempts.

...I have to respectfully disagree! Those teams back then actually ran plays and worked for decent shots! Launching shots with 10 seconds left on the 24 second clock was virtually unheard of...unless they had a fast break going! Todays NBA clowns will launch shots in a half-court set with 18 seconds left on the 24 second clock and force more shots than you can shake a stick at!

The scariest statistic is the fact that LeBron is shooting just 20.7% on wide-open three-pointers (defined by NBA.com as shots where no defender is within six feet.)
