I’m with Cy on this one. Jazz don’t need Dame, so they shouldn’t overpay to get him. They have a ton of picks to throw into any deal - that should be the draw. I’m not trading either Hendricks or George before I’ve seen them play for Hardy. Offer Sexton and Olynyk (both of whom are not likely in the Jazz future) and then a handful of our unprotected picks. If someone else outbids us, then it’s fine. I’m more than happy to stand with the roster as it’s constructed until the deadline.

Dame is still at the top of his game, and likely has at least 2-3 more years at this level. Look at the contracts just given out… he is worth that money.

The Jazz with Dame are contenders next season. If not him, you have to either hope a rookie hits it big or another disgruntled super star becomes available.

I really don’t know how much say he has as to where he wants to go, nor should he , Portland have a job to do to get as much back for him for their team .

I think the discussion here is very different from the discussion Jazz FO is having.

I think the two biggest doubts they would have are:
1) Package type
2) Opportunity cost

Portland said they are still in win now mode despite Dame leaving. Thats a problem for anyone trading for Dame since the package cant be centered around future assets. We would rather deal with a rebuilding team.

Second is the opportunity cost. If another player who fits our need and timeline better (say Luka) becomes available we are not gonna be happy we went for Lillard.

Personally I think if #1 changes and we can build a package without key vets or core pieces then we need to seize this opportunity.
