OKC would be the same without Kanter, you underestimate how much of a liability he is on defense. There's a reason why even his own teammates want him out.

I think he means that Russ is objective about the product of the players for each separate series, and he tries to get the best from his team in different situations.

exactly. Denying Kanter's abilities and weakness is stupid. He is a great offensive rebounder and an offensive presence inside, you put him in against a team with guys like Duncan and LMA who are superskilled but not that mobile (Duncan is now a zombie in terms of speed and LMA was never the fastest) and even though he can be abused on D, he becomes a net contributor. You put him on against a team like the Warriors with very fast mobile bigs and lots of switching required and he sinks you and the team.

Kanter for 70M is an expensive tool, but it is still a usefull tool to have in your kit : Westbrook recognizing that he was detrimental at that time was clever and to the point, doesn't mean Kanter is crap...

I like Enes but he was terrible that night. Like his worst Jazz games terrible. Missed his first shot and from then it was diwnhill on defense.

They got rid of a poor defender. They didn't have to pay that poor defender 17 million per year. They got picks and players. They got rudy.

Kanter got paid and got on a team with superstars and got a diminished role

Yeah, I guess it would be nice if your 17 million dollar guy could play more than 9 minutes in a playoff game.

He did. It just adjust according to the opposition.

Here are his stats sorted on a game by game basis in the post season:

He even averaged one block per game in the 6 game series against the Spurs.

I would like to say that they use him just like they need to. But I would agree with you if you are just criticizing the dollars he is getting. Indeed he is expensive, but this does not mean that it is not worth it, or will not be worth it in the future. There is still time for him to live up to his MAX contract even at an higher level especially considering he is still 24 years old and have at least five years to keep developing his game at a rapid speed.
 
The discussion is if Kanter shows the jazz they made a mistake in these playoffs. Not if he's a good player or not. And with that said, I don't think it shows it was a mistake. Because I haven't been blown away by his play in these playoffs. And I am sure the Jazz org hasn't either. He looks the same as he did here, so we aren't missing much. Same Kanter.

Only difference is the Porn Stache.... And that is something I wish we could have had and the Jazz made a mistake on.

Not to mention he openly admitted to not fully trying here. He quit. Doesn't matter how he plays anywhere else. He quit. Period.

Quitting is underrated.

We should be slamming "premature quitting" (gave up while still had a chance to win, left a job that was very good because they got pi$$ed off one day, turned around half way up the mountain with energy to spare, filed for divorce after first serious marital fight, etc).

But all quitting is not bad.

John Stockton, age 40 -- what a quitter. If someone sucks at something or does not love what she is doing, continuing is insanity, quitting is sensible.
