Really weird to see people brushing the doctored video aside. Good God people we're in the United States of America not the USSR. We shouldn't be putting up with this ****.

It is not a blatant lie.

Get real.

What the hell? Seriously? Good god people. We're supposed to be a democracy? A shining light on a hill?

Ok we're gonna have to agree to disagree here.

The. Press. Secretary. Of. The. United. States. Of. America.Tweeted. Out. An. Altered. Video. In. Order. To. Deceive. The. Public.

I really don't understand how this isn't a big deal. Much bigger than some reporter refusing to give some chick a microphone.

I'm old enough to remember when America's presidents weren't supposed to put out deceitful propaganda. We used to make fun of North Korea and the USSR. My how times have changed.

"Beyond that, the sparring with reporters served as a message to Trump’s base, that he will not stop fighting. While critics saw a petulant, un-presidential performance, many in Trump’s thrall saw a ravenous and disrespectful media always out to get the president.

When Acosta protested that CNN employees had been targeted by the recent mailing of pipe bombs, allegedly by a Trump supporter, after such rhetoric, the president showed no sense of responsibility, let alone remorse.

“When you report fake news — which CNN does a lot — you are the enemy of the people,” Trump said."

Regardless of what one thinks of Acosta, the president set up his attack on the press during that presser for the sake of his base. Part act, part genuine anger. Meanwhile, knowing full well he was getting rid of Sessions and seizing control of the investigation of himself. And that appears to be what he's done making Matthew Whitaker Mueller's boss. He struck the day after the election.

Only thing that matters at the moment. Whitaker can serve for 7 months, if it was legal to appoint him in the first place. The end game is the only thing that matters, and it seems like Trump has thrown the gauntlet for his end game. It just seems like nothing, at this moment, is more important then this maneuver by Trump. He's going to try to cripple Mueller now that his boy is Mueller's boss.

Not that the Acosta/Trump exchange is small change, since we are talking the media is "the enemy of the people" meme, which will likely long outlive Trump. But, really, he's trying to seize control of an investigation of himself. And his family. Are we going to let him get away with this bs?? This is our country, here.

Thats what i saw

Because that's what you are meant to see. It exaggerates the motion to make it look worse than it was so that you see what they wanted you to see. Let's try this thought experiment...Say you are on video camera driving through a school zone. The police speed up the video to show you are over ten miles over the limit, and take away your license. They could not have done so without doctoring the video and adding frames to it. Are you okay with that?

All of the elements of the justification are there. You were actually in the school zone, by original defense speeding up the video does not change the material facts just the speed at which it happened. Because the original, undoctored, video would not support the offense, they changed it...that means they intended to deceive you. If you swallow that pill, there is nothing you will not swallow. You are asking to be lied to again, and again.

Of course it is. The intent was to emphasize the interaction. But no one said, "hey we sped this up." That omission, with the original changing of the video to exaggerate the interaction, show an intent to deceive. That is the very definition of a lie. To then take that and use it as an excuse to justify banning Acosta knowing that it was doctored makes it blatant.

This is likely meant to distract from the real issue of the day...the dumping of Sessions and selection of Whitaker to choke the life out of the Mueller investigation...which makes it even more blatant and devious. Read the Woodward book. Trump uses the media churn to distract and hide the bunny from his marks. As marks, we need to keep our eyes on the bunny, and not get distracted from what is going on.

I think there are degrees of doctored. If they photoshopped him pushing her down or punching her or something then it would be a bigger deal to me. The edit looks the exact same as the original to me. I see the exact same amount of contact in the same motion. It doesnt look any worse in the doctored video to me.

If it exagerrates the motion to make it look worse than it was then it failed. Big time.

It didnt look bad to me at all. Like i said, its a nothing burger. He barely touched her.

Yes. Keep the heat on this ridiculous power grab....

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/08/politics/white-house-matt-whitaker-criticism/index.html

(CNN)There is a growing sense of concern inside the White House over the negative reaction to Matthew Whitaker being tapped as acting attorney general after Jeff Sessions' abrupt firing.

Whitaker, who was Sessions' chief of staff, has faced criticism since Wednesday afternoon's announcement for his previous comments on special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Several senior officials told CNN they were surprised by the criticism, and believe it could potentially jeopardize Whitaker's chances of remaining in the post if it continues to dominate headlines.
