I have long taken the position that I don't necessarily have a problem with criminal prosecution of Trump so long as it is in a criminal court but I also think it is a colossally stupid thing to do because the damage it would do to the fabric of the nation far outweighs any potential benefit. I have even said in this thread the raid on Mar-o-Lago was probably legal. I simply believe that it would have been better for the nation if the government had pursued this with more lawyers behind the scenes and fewer machine guns in front of cameras.I’m sure the release of the warrant information will dispel all of the right’s conspiracy and suspicion of the raid. I bet they’re quickly backtrack and admit that the FBI’s raid was definitely warranted and will cheer for Justice to be served on Donald Trump. In fact, I bet Trumpers on this website will apologize and admit they’ve been wrong. I know folks like Al and Buck have a long history of admitting that other posters have been correct and that their arguments have been wrong.
If I'm wrong and the government can keep doing what it does then I'm not happy but oh well. If I'm not wrong, how may people are going to have to die before you decide that maybe lowering the temperature on the rhetoric and open aggression is the wiser course of action? Is there a number? Does it not matter so long as you can justify the deaths in your head and it hurts more of the people you don't like than the ones you do? What is it going to take for you to think that maybe we should take a beat to think about the consequences before proceeding with a thing we can do because it is legal to do?
